Music: Planets by Jerobeam Fenderson
Coded in OpenFrameworksby with c++ by me
This was an assignment for my sensors class (arduino stuff) and we had to code an audio visualizer. This is an emulation of an oscilloscope (think heart monitor).
A heart monitor is an oscilloscope set to a mode I can't remember the name of rn that plots dots on the y-axis while x is time. It draws these dots very fast to make them look like lines. An oscilloscope set to x,y mode uses two input channels (left and right) to draw a dot with x and y (left, right respectively) values on the screen. This is what is being done in the above video.
Normally, an oscilloscope set to x,y mode listening to any audio will just give you a garbled mess of scribbles on the screen. In order to actually make pictures, you have to compose the music in such a way that the left and right channels will give specific x,y values. Basically, you're trying to graph using music. Frankly, that is too complicated for me so the music is not my own and is instead composed by Jerobeam Fenderson on youtube. They have many more songs, one of my favourites being Shrooms.
