Hermiston, Oregon
After a year or so of exploring Portland and the parks East of here, I finally made a trip to check out some of the Dreamland and Grindline parks in Eastern OR. Hermiston was one I was curious about, so I made sure to make a stop.
The park is pretty simple---a kind of weird 4 leaf clover bowl and a few bonus obstacles off to the side. There’s a small flatbar and quarterpipe to warm up on, a Hubba ledge, and a cool bank built around the basketball hoop.
The bowl was smaller than I expected, but harder to skate too. The middle part works okay like a halfpipe, with the clamshell setting up for tricks on the extension. The hips and the side pockets were much harder for me to work with---there’s no flatbottom in those pockets, so you really have to be ready for the next wall.
Hermiston was definitely worth making a stop, but I think it will take me a few more visits to really get it figured out.
