January we get to go check out the town of Hermiston in Oregon. P has an interview for a clinic that has a good population of spanish speakers and I know he's extremely excited for this. Heck, I'm excited and a bit nervous! It's a smaller town with apparently a ton of farms? So I'm not sure how much I'm going to like it but theres also a lot of watermelon from what I gather and I can be down with that 100%. Idk, I'm just nervous about how we are gonna like moving all the way across the country because if they offer him this position, I'm pretty certain he is going to take it. The place looks gorgeous though so I cant wait to go see it in person in just about a month!

After a year or so of exploring Portland and the parks East of here, I finally made a trip to check out some of the Dreamland and Grindline parks in Eastern OR. Hermiston was one I was curious about, so I made sure to make a stop.
The park is pretty simple---a kind of weird 4 leaf clover bowl and a few bonus obstacles off to the side. There’s a small flatbar and quarterpipe to warm up on, a Hubba ledge, and a cool bank built around the basketball hoop.
The bowl was smaller than I expected, but harder to skate too. The middle part works okay like a halfpipe, with the clamshell setting up for tricks on the extension. The hips and the side pockets were much harder for me to work with---there’s no flatbottom in those pockets, so you really have to be ready for the next wall.Â
Hermiston was definitely worth making a stop, but I think it will take me a few more visits to really get it figured out.Â
