Will & the symbols of the esoteric feminine
We can also say that in the beginning was Will, but Will, is an extremely elusive concept to circumscribe with language. We know that everything we do in the world is preceded by our Will, our intention or desire— even if we are not always conscious of our Will- & within the layers of ourselves there may be conflicting wishes.
A good way to describe the innocence of Will, is to say- 1 make a wish that something will be so, that something ! deeply want will become an actualised experience for me.
This kind of Willing, is the delight we have as children for the magical nature of reality. This magical Willing, is really also the nature of the divine creator emanating this world out of delight, joy & love.
This original Will, to just be- then descends to become all the different ways we experience Will, through the mind as willpower, through emotions & the body as Eros, but really it is the same— when mind, emotion & body is purified & alchemised- purged of shadows & bindings of misidentification— then all Will & all Desire is only holy Will & holy Desire, one with the divine pulse.
Within the one, there is the outward & inward movements, the desire for creation & the desire for return & union— perpetually co, going out & coming in.
The great serpent-being guards the void-abyss, where the divine pulse is birthed, where everything originates & returns to, & who regulates what crosses over the boundary of what is, & what is not (sat & asat).
Between death & re-birth is the great mystery, the void— between winter & spring is the crossing between death & new life— the eternal eye from which the fountain of renewal springs forth, or the egg that cracks open to birth with the Will of creation, symbolised by the Orphic egg & serpent & moon-
These are the symbols of the esoteric feminine principle of Consciousness.
(Roberto Assagioli, as many others, was deeply influenced by esoteric philosophies informing their theories).
