Huckleberry Lemon Drop was rescued at two days old and has been a beloved member of our family ever since. 🍋 🐑 His mother was euthanized shortly after giving birth to him because her humans chose not to pay a couple hundred dollars to have her prolapsed uterus repaired by a veterinarian. This is local, “humane” farming. Just like in a factory farming setting, if an animal is losing a farmer money, if she is no longer profitable, she is simply disposed of. We feel privileged to have gotten to raise sweet Huck, but we often think about his mother. Who was she? What was her name? She was so brave struggling through a horrific delivery with her twins and must have felt unbelievable love for them in the hours they spent together. At @blackberrycreek we hope to give each animal resident a platform to share his or her story, and we love to hear how they have impacted the lives of others.
