I bet at first, her hostility towards him was genuine. Ornna sees herself as the practical, rational person who makes “good choices,” as opposed to Gustav, who apparently listens to his heart and makes mistakes. I think Ornna probably objected to taking Molly in on principle - you can’t just keep adopting every stray weirdo you come across, Gustav! This is a bad idea, Gustav! We don’t know anything about this person, Gustav!!!!

And, like... she was probably pretty cool taking in Toya. Toya’s a darling, and was a helpful, performing member of the circus immediately. When they found Molly, he was barely able to speak, had no name, no idea where he came from and no ability to tell them if, for example, he was in trouble with the law, or if somebody was after him. You find someone in the state Molly was in when they found him, it’s perfectly reasonable to assume he might be trouble waiting to happen. But nope, Gustav doesn’t care about that, he sees someone who needs help and he’s helping! (I’m pretty sure this forms the basis for Molly’s ‘don’t expect people to earn things’ policy, btw.)
