24 âI will if you willâ for mandomera for the fic prompt!
It resembled food, that was as nicely as either of them could put it. The two sets of smiles in front of them urged them to go on, take a bite, a big bite and exclaim that these two were the most talented chefs theyâd ever come across.Â
The green and grey sludge in the bowls in front of them begged to differ.Â
Din kept his eyes on the bowl, tracking the path of something very much alive in his.Â
Omera stuttered something nice, but it wasnât enough for Winta.Â
The kid was perched on his shoulder, his little hands gripping his hair, insistent cooing sounds ringing loud in his ear.Â
âWhat do you call it?â Omera asked, looking up at Winta,Â
âAnniversary surprise!â she exclaimed proudly. âBecause itâs your anniversary and it was a surprise!â she explained. The kid cooed right with her, emphasizing her point.Â
âIt sure is,â Omera said, looking back at her bowl. Din kept his head down, he knew that if he looked at her there would be more hurt feelings than anything.Â
She cleared her throat and elbowed him,Â
âYouâre a natural, Winta,â he said, looking up at her. Winta squealed, throwing her arms around him.Â
Now he couldnât help it, and looked up at Omera, her bowl in hand, spoon held up before her, a confused and helpless expression as she surveyed her scoop.Â
With both kids hanging off Dinâs shoulders, he picked up his own bowl, holding up to Omeraâs,Â
âI will if you will,â he said, quietly.Â
Her expression softened as she looked between him and the kids,Â
âCheers,â she said, tapping her spoon against his.Â
(It would have been all right, perhaps, if the creature in Dinâs bowl hadnât chosen that exact moment to leap up at him, making him spill the contents of his bowl all over him. The laughter, however, made it worth it.)
