I have this Au in my head where just before he's captured by Burgess, Dream had an affair with a mortal woman (I know the rules forbid that, go with it) and she gives birth, and then dies shortly afterword's The child is raised by Death, and becomes aquainted with all the other Endless.
Anyway it's revealed that while she sleeps the Dreaming is actually restored a little. And she eventually moves to the dreaming full time (haven't decided how exactly that's possible but bare with me) to help stop the Dreaming from imploding on itself. With the full expectation that she'll hand the reigns back to Morpheus should he come back.
Anyway on to the point of the post.
OC's reaction to finding out that Morpheus could have been freed at anytime.
OC: Alex Burgess was willing to free at any point. All you had to do was agree to leave him alone.
