My whole life, Iāve had a habit of making things complicated for myself, doing 20 things at once/eating 20 things at once. When Iād cook, Iād most likely be stressed, anxious or sad and Iād make these meals that were so (allbeit yummy) hard for me to digest because Iād made them so busy. Ofcourse this was also due to the fact that I had trouble digesting my thoughts, my issues and all of the other contributing aspects of my life in that period of time; this drama that Iād created for myself ā¦I was working 36 hours over the weekend, in my final year of uni putting my folio together, highly stressed, unable to communicate with people on a level that expressed what was really going in my mind> I had trouble recognizing them myself. Iād kept myself so ridiculously highly strung and busy that I was unable to see what was going on inside my body and mind, running at such a self destructive pace that I was unable to see the signs and inevitably had to really fall down to stop. Stop and remain still until I was ready to start fresh. In hindsight, I see it (the way I was cooking, eating and living) as a form of distraction from the truth. If the truth is there, untainted - raw, we cannot ignore it. Not forever anyway, so stripping it back completely is where Iām headed.
This tangent might seem far fetched to pot up on my simple food blog, but I feel like this is important to share to help others and myself, understand the connection between food and our general wellbeing.
Food it not just what we eat, but what we see, hear, smell and touch. These foods we consume are imperative to our mentality, functionality, physicality and spirituality. When we simplify them, we are able to see situations and aspects of our lives as they come and as they are and we have a much better ability to understand and ādealā with them with more clarity.
Did you know our life energy increases and decreases drastically moment to moment in accordance to the images/thoughts/sounds/foods we are faced with?
Iām currently studying kinesiology, and in our last class we were handed around a series of images from magazines and afterwards we tested our ālife energyā - from looking at a picture of a motorbike, my energy decreased from 90% to 50%. This example just amplifies how incredibly sensitive we are as beings and how important it is to surround ourselves with the beautiful, uplifiting and positive things and above all what makes us happy and vibrant, what brings us to our truest potential.
So, this brings me back to the food thing, what actually brought me this today ā¦after 24 years of running around headless, after years of dis-ease, chaos and internal conflictĀ ; eating, sleeping and living, poorly ⦠Iām understanding and above all indulging in the beauty of simplicity. The overwhelming sensations from feeling the wind, watching the clouds go by, the sun on my skin, the fresh scent in the air after a heavy thunderstorm, the afternoon bird songs, grass between my toes ā¦the list goes on and on, and all of them come in such abundance, itās just amazing! To whole heartedly accept these simple things in life, Iāve made the decision to eat only fruits and vegetables in their optimum, natural, whole food organic state, because I love it, because it feels good and because it contributes to the feelings of lightness, creativity and vibrancy that I adore and respect in myself already.
Eating this way, gives me the ability to consciously not only accept but appreciate and receive each bite of food that I am eating in a physical, emotional and wholistic way. Being present to the simple pleasures that this life offers every one of us is too good to be ignored.
Iāve come to a standstill moment where I can clearly see one part of my life in the background and this new unlived, ready to thrive part in the forefront to be (AND BEING) enjoyed totally to its fullest extent.
