Yet another long-delayed Orcward drawing. Dame Hilaria, Korum’s boss/mentor, back when she was his age and still had all her face. She was a tough old bird even when she was a tough young bird, and is probably one of my favourites among the secondary cast. Landscape practice.
Sorry I haven’t been posting much on the art front - had a few things blow in on the sequential front that I can’t say much about right now, but hopefully will be able to talk about soon. In the meantime, have a warm-up Thommie. Orcward is very much still happening, and I have a pile of pages sitting on my desk waiting for inks.
ORCWARD RELEASE UPDATE
So, it’s the 25th and I haven’t posted a comic page - but there’s a surprisingly happy reason for that. My editor at my old publishing house, Gestalt Comics, has very kindly and generously agreed to build me a proper website for Orcward, do my lettering, and generally be the sterling artist-wrangler he is. However, he’s been ill for the past couple of weeks so on top of dealing with the woes of freelance, we haven’t made much progress on the site. SO The tentative release date is ANY DAY NOW, but rest assured I am building a honking great buffer of comic pages so hopefully we won’t have to lose momentum even if both of us keel over. Thankyou so much for your patience and interest! I’ll keep posting teasers.

Getting closer to release, building my buffer, cracking the rust off my colouring techniques and fighting the RSI with tooth, nail and heat-pack. ORCWARD is coming. Gird your loins and grab your pitchforks.
Orcward, P01, Panel 1, inks. Shaking the dust off the crowquills and brushes to do the inks on blue-lined Bristol Board. I didn’t smudge it too much, either. Gold star for me.
I’m really grateful for all the interest everyone’s shown since I posted the commencement date - it’s been so excellent to see such an outpouring of support for a project that’s only in it’s infancy, and hugely encouraging. I’ll be posting some WIPs of select panels as I ink and colour. I’m going oldschool with brush and nib, but the colours will be digital. Since we’ve had something of a new follower glut, I’ll give you a rundown on the tags, for those of you who want to follow or block certain things. -All personal chatter is tagged ‘autobioblahblah’. I rarely get very personal, but this is a handy way of avoiding text-posts. Or you could just avoid ‘text post’, since if I forgot to add the first tag I definitely added the second one. -Artwork is tagged ‘my art’ -Any and all Orcward related material is tagged ‘Orcward’. You can generally search for the characters by their names, although I really have to go back and re-tag a lot of it since Korum’s poor father has had about three name revisions. -I will endeavour to tag reblogs of my own work with ‘reblog’, but I’ve got the memory of a stoned duckling so if I forget, give me a hoi before you throw me off the internet cliffs.
I’m always happy to answer questions, but since I work fulltime and all of my free time is either spent glued to the drawing board or torturing my players at Dungeons and Dragons games, I may be a trifle slow.
