When I focus on the bowings my fingers get messed up. When I focus on the fingering my bowings get messed up. So I tell them 'Why don't we all get along' and they go 'NO, we hate you.'

Orchestra Trip 2017: Day 1
So my orchestra started our big trip for this year today. We took a bus on a 5 1/2 (probable a little more) trip to San Diego, California. We walked around a bit in Old San Diego then had dinner. After that we headed to a clinic. Out clinician was the conductor of the San Diego Youth Symphony. We are currently waiting to go to our hotel. Tomorrow we have a music exchange with a local high school.

Hope you donât mind but do you mind sharing about your OCs? Iâll love to see what characters youâve come up with
omg i want u to know iâve been dying to respond to this ask even though itâs half a year late but it made me so happy seeing this in my inbox bc i rlly love my ocs despite never talking about them for, i dunno, a couple years now hgfdsfgh
also bc i really really really wanted to redraw and redesign literally all my ocs because i do Not want to use my old art for this, but i only really managed to redraw one recently and i posted the art over [here] so iâll mostly talk about her and the relationships with my other ocs since theyâre somewhat connected in a way anyway :âD
her nameâs julia ikeda, and sheâs one of my ocs who go to some random rich private high school! thereâs a set of kids there who are in that schoolâs orchestra  ( julia plays clarinet for orch, and trombone in jazz band )  but those kids kinda originally existed to be like,,,,, almost opposite counterparts to the original concert band kid characters i created to be friends with my ghost ocs. basically 2Ps, but iâm not rlly vibing with that idea now bc it makes zero sense and i donât want them to look so similar to each other now, hence why i want to redesign all of them hgfdsfg
the concert band kids and the ghost kids both go to the same school  ( and is different from the rich private school ), which would be st. lawrence catholic high school. bc thatâs kind of a play on the actual high school i went to when i created them hgfdsfgdfg
anyway julia is a total memelord with probably undiagnosed adhd, and unfortunately severe depression and anxiety. sheâs like,,,, so chaotic but lowkey in a self-destructive way. i love her a lot and i straight up used to manage an in-character blog for her that you can find over at @triiiplebaka  ( formerly @/kedkat ) although i havenât posted to that blog in like. 7 months. i was way more active on it literally 2 years ago so itâs kinda old stuff now sdfghfg
sheâs mostly the âcomedy reliefâ type of character with secret sad character arcs. sheâs also an ace lesbian and dates the clarinet player from st. lawrence, which is cheryl!!  :D i havenât redesigned her yet so my old art isnât great but iâm sure u can see her and the other band kids in one of my old tags lmao.Â
basically a lot of the kids in her orchestra think sheâs annoying but broe sheâs just rlly lonely and wants friends;;;;;;;  unfortunately most of the orch kids are just. straight up assholes. luckily she found Actually Good Friends with the st. lawrence kids and she ends up doing much better after befriending them, so thatâs good!!  flint  ( one of the ghost ocs ) is one of her best friends and they like to commit chaos together :âD
anyway I love my orch dork friends a lot
i love how music kids are everywhere, and we find each other in the most unlikely places. like, when i went to my first pride parade, one of my friends brought a group of her friends iâd never met before. me and one of the girls were chatting on the train and she was super tall and awesome and punk af, and i found out she played cello in one of the best ensembles in my county, and was also in an orchestra i had a stand-in rehearsal with the next day. so after meeting totally coincidentally, we ended up spending two whole days with each other, and played dvorak 9 together in the last concert of the season.
and the other week i was at a party, surrounded by total strangers, just standing in the hallway, and a girl walks up to me and goes âi know you, i recognise your face. you do music right?â and i was like, âyeah!! iâm so sorry, i donât recognise you at all, but yeah, i play bassâ, and she says âdonât worry weâve never actually met, but iâve definitely seen you at regional concerts before - i play cello.â honestly it was the nicest thing having that connection to someone else at that party, and even though we didnât speak until it was time to leave and we said bye to each other, iâm so glad she came and said hey.
and today i was in waterstones asking about a couple of books i need, and the girl behind the counter suddenly looked up from the computer and looked me right in the eye and said âwhere have i seen you before??â and i said âyou play violin right? youâre in my youth symphony!â and then a 10 minute conversation ensued about what music iâm playing in the winter concert, and how sheâs now moved up to the county youth and might be playing clarinet this season, but weâll still see each other in spring because itâs a joint course. meanwhile, a massive queue of impatient people had built up behind me, but who even cares because if you randomly bump into another orchestra kid in a shop youâre gonna spend 10 minutes talking about how impractical german performance markings are, thatâs just the way it is.
i just love that music kids are everywhere - weâre never alone, we always have each other.
