I had the funniest idea at work for the House of Cards AU. Hakuba x Hattori thoughts!!!!
What if. What if. Hear me out. Hakuba ends up getting a crush on Yasuaki.
In the context of Hakuba and Hattori lowkey kind of still pissy at each other. (Hakuba inadvertantly insulting Shinichi put him on Hattori shit list forever and Hakuba just thinks Hattori is loud, reckless, and entirely too emotional. Ofc they have bregruding respect for each other.)
However, at some point, Hakuba crosses path with Hattori when he's disguised as Yasuaki and Hattori, is like, on the job so he has to maintain cover and work together with Hakuba.
And Hakuba finds Yasuaki pleasant and nice to work with and lowkey develops a crush/squish.
Hattori on the other hand is just like "wtf, he can actually be pleasant and nice??? He's just a bitch to me???"
Hattori is learning a whole new side of Hakuba and realizes he's kind of not that bad and also just a little bit socially incompetent and thus grows fond enough of the Brit.
It isn't until later that at some point Hakuba gets brought into the fold, either he figures Shinichi out, or Kaito ropes him in, or he worms his way in himself, but he gets debriefed and he leans that Yasuaki is Heiji in disguise.
He then goes home and has a crisis because despite finding out Heiji is Yasuaki, it did not make Yasuaki unappealing, instead it has made Heiji kind of appealing.
And Hakuba lowkey kind of realizes that Hattori and Yasuaki aren't really that different, he was just kind of biased...that doesn't mean he's not pissed he was lied to though.
Which lead to Hakuba purposefully treating Hattori in and out of Yasuaki disguise vastly differently, just to fuck with him.
