If their inner demons had been outer demons, they probably would have been friends.
Me, writing
So after learning that most anime tends to be traced digitally for coloring, I wondered what would a random Crystal cap would have looked if majority of it’s lineart wasn’t auto traced.
Weeks ago, mostly out of boredom and curiosity I manually retraced the genga and this was the result. In the anime some lines weren’t as thick, and it didn’t have all the hair strands like in the genga. I added a few shines on the glasses though. Besides being my Twitter icon, I have no reason to use this..
RIGHT TIDDLYWINKS TIME FOR SOME CELTIC ORIGIN STORIES ON SAMHAIN
After several years of studying Celtic Civilizations, you begin to learn a few things about the ancient customs and general craic-having of our predecessors, including a holiday that today we regard as the only socially acceptable time to dress like an eejit and send your kids begging for food from strangers. That’s right, time to get some #truefacts about Halloween.
Samhain (sah-win), which roughly translates into “Summer’s End” marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, a.k.a the beginning of the Celtic New Year and when the usual Christmas tack begins to hit the shelves, and the holiday was most prominent in the Celtic speaking country of EĂre (Ireland, for all you uncultured swine)
It is regarded as one of the most mystical times of the year, when the veil between our world and the other is at its thinnest and the spirits of the dead may pass through. This seems pretty sick however this also allows for the passing through of demons and bad SĂdhe (fairy folk) that can eat your soul and possess you and other stuff like that so a bad day to crack out that Ouija board.
The idea of the Jack-O-Lantern comes from a tradition of carving faces in the ever reliable turnip. People would carve faces in them to ward off spirits but it switched to pumpkins when it became popularized in America because it is really hard to carve out a turnip but we Irish liked a challenge.
Begging for candy a tradition? Naw. Leaving candy out? Kinda. Offerings of treats and whatnot would have been left out for the spirits and sĂdhe to take as they pass, warding them off the home. Those without it would get tricked in the worst way possible, like their babies getting stolen or something. Costumes were also worn to confuse the spirits into not harming you. Who knew a cowboy could have such an affect.
It is actually regarded as a very Holy day in a lot of pre-pagan beliefs, marking births of great heroes (Wish Cú Chulainn a happy birthday) and a closer connection to the supernatural world. It’s got the creep affect, aye, but it’s got that deep holy one too so if you see a circle of Wiccans doing some chants, leave them be. Unless they’re sacrificing something. That’s a big no-no.
Hopefully someone out there will think “Wow, these are some great fact. I’m gonna go make use of that turnip rotting away in the bottom of the fridge.” Have a lovely Samhain and don’t get possessed. Also keep in your pets and don’t shit on kids dreams.
