My latino blood is too thick to embark on the "it's embarassing that Germany lost to Ecuador" boat and I won't apologize for that. What is embarassing is that they played that shit-like, boring and passion-less football and couldn't respect their opponent enough to give their all against them. This is not the mentality Germany had when I first fell in love with them and it's a shame, because it used to be one of the most attractive aspects of their game: their love for football and the desire to always give their all.
I do believe this is a result of a deliberate decision to not press too much since a) Germany was already guaranteed to top the group and b) two players are already injured, one of them out of the WC. I can understand the reasoning behind not pushing it too far to preserve squad fitness for the next game where the result will actually count something in the context of competition progresion, but I don't stand behind this decision because I do believe it is disrespectful not only towards your opponent, but also to the fans who expect you to care enough to at least try.
