My boxes of books finally started arriving this week (two weeks late). The boxes were horribly beat up and many had notices on them that they’d been repacked and may have missing or damaged items. I started going through them tonight and I’m honestly devestated. About a third of the ones that made it are torn up. And right now there’s somewhere around 60 missing. There are multiple covers bent and shoved in boxes for books that aren’t there. There are multiple series with only one or two books present. Special additions with pages torn out and grime on the covers. I won’t be able to do a full inventory until the rest of the (very delayed) boxes arrive. If they arrive. And the notices are from all different places—DFW, Atlanta, and Denver. So it’s not like this was an isolated disastrous event. I will never use media mail again. How does this even happen??
