Their first kiss was a complete accident. He'd come to the infirmary that day to get a small wound treated and Mikan was more than happy to help clean and dress the small cut he'd gotten. She worked quickly and efficiently, leaning in so she could see her work up close. It was only after she'd finished dressing the cut on his cheek that he quickly turned and pressed his lips to her own cheek. He must not have even thought about it before doing it because he immediately began to stammer and ramble on about how sorry he was and that it wouldn't happen again. Mikan let out a small giggle and smiled. "Y-You're welcome, Naegi-kun."
The second kiss happened to not be an accident at all. Makoto Naegi had been on his way home from class when he noticed Mikan had fallen yet again. She'd gotten herself entangled in a bush and her backside was exposed to anyone walking by. After helping her up and a very awkward, embarrassing moment where he had to explain that he had not been staring at her exposed panties, he waved goodbye and turned to head home again. Only she stopped him quickly by calling out to him. When she reached his side again, she leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek - a thank you for saving her from further embarrassment.
The third kiss was vastly different from the innocence they shared during their school days. Her holding cell in the Future Foundation facility was cold and cramped, making her claustrophobic and aggravated most days. But his daily visits were often the only thing she really looked forward to now. He was a constant she could rely on and the closer they got the more she found herself falling for him the way she fell for her Beloved... It was one of these evenings during his visit she decided to make the first move, cupping his chin in her hand and leading him closer. She paused for a second, lips hovering close to his. She glanced at the camera watching them and smirked, knowing damn well a certain someone was watching them, before she kissed him.
The fourth kiss felt like a dream. The room was spinning and she felt the need to lie down, but it was only until he gently pressed his hand to her chest in an attempt to guide her back down that she realized she had already been lying down. She gazed up at him in confusion, the sound of medical equipment beeping away and the low hum of a computer's server whirred behind her head. "Where...?" She began to ask, lifting her hand to reach toward him. It was then she noticed the IV. But before she could explore further Naegi took her hand and held it close to his lips, pressing a kiss to the pale skin. He reassured her she was safe, that he wouldn't let anything hurt her while she was in the simulation, and then he'd be right here to greet her again when she woke up...
The fifth kiss wasn't a dream at all. It had been a year and a half since they last saw each other. Her eyes lit up as she watched him step off the boat docked in Jabberwock's port. Her heart leaped as her feet took her toward him, slow at first but gaining speed with each step until she was sprinting toward him. He greeted her with open arms and she clung to him as tightly as she could with no intention of letting go. In the heat of the moment, she kissed him, not caring if anyone saw them. She'd missed him greatly and no one could tear him away from her anymore. She wanted the moment to last forever.
