Despite her experience with all things underground, it was actually pretty easy for Janessa to keep her head above water once she had taken over the business. She had moved them into an actual office building to avoid interacting with the grimy world she directed, and had very few interactions actually participating in the underground world.
This particular night, however, her employees got the best of her and dragged her out to some fight. They were familiar with one of the fighters so she assumed sheād be rooting for him though she had no idea who either of the males were, and in all honesty, she didnāt quite understand the entertainment behind watching two guys beat the shit out of each other for money. But, to each their own and either way, she now found herself in a black hoodie and hat, sitting in a random grungy basement.Ā
The fight began and Janessa gave out the occasional yell in support for the fighter she somewhat knew, but she found herself watching the other man more and more. He was agile and knew where to land his hits, putting her under the impression that he mustāve been doing it for awhile now despite the fact he looked around her age. She raised an eyebrow and nodded in approval as she leaned back in her chair, suddenly more intrigued in the fight. The punches continued and her friend next to her had tapped her tell her something when there was a loud thud and their friend was down. Janessa immediately stood up along with everyone else as the room erupted into cheers and groans equally. Her brows furrowed, she bit back a smirk and turned to glance at her employees. āDo you guys know him? Whatās his name?ā They were hesitant to give it to her and she rolled her eyes.Ā āNow would be nice.ā Lucas Kim. Her eyes wanderedĀ over to him and she actually smiled this time.Ā āYou guys go ahead. Iāll get back home by myself.ā She reassured them sheād be okay before they left and she waited until Lucas was pretty much alone before heading over to him.
āPretty impressive stuff out there, handsome. And thatās coming from someone who was supposed to be rooting for the other guy.ā
