I’ve decided im going to play the old peace after reset (gonna be able to get Pizza Party with the Hex hell yeah) so I’m getting my existing thoughts down first BUT.
You know one of the things that’s very interesting to me abt the Operator vs. Drifter conceptually is how different their backstories are. Like duh I know but really. I keep thinking abt how much their different experiences shapes their characters, what they know about the world, their opinions of it.
Like, the operator was there in the post Zaramin Orokin society, theoretically they have more context of the culture and the conflicts. Amnesia puts a wrench in this line of thinking but still they’re deeply shaped by their existence in the story, the assigned roll of Teno in society, the context that surrounds them.
But the Drifter fundamentally isn’t a part of the world in the same way where their personal experience of history stops at the Zaramin and only starts back up with what they learned after getting out of Duviri. The Drifter is technically a civilian!! A roughed up, scrappy, rebellious civilian. Sure they aren’t a stranger to death (being murdered all the time will do that for you) but the new war was their first war!
And idk I’m turning around in my head how these two technically the same people would approach similar situations very differently just by virtue of what they’ve experienced and what’s been demanded from them. Obvi it also depends on who you play as but ykwim.
I’ve largely been able to avoid old peace spoilers but my understanding is that it’ll fill more of those worldbuilding and I’m REALLY excited for that. Yay yay yippee yay etc etc
