I need to have more frequent vtm sessions i am chewing on the drywall atm (word vomit under the cut bc i realized itās been a while since I posted about it publicly lol, gotta keep the mutuals informed)
itās been going SO GOOD wahhhh. Weāre about 2 weeks from session 6 and things are starting to develop quite nicely, I would say. Some ideas and themes are starting to sift out of the sandbox Iāve made up, and my players are soooo much fun to play with. God Iām so lucky to have them.
One of the biggest conflicts that has started emerging is the serious need for blood by the South Central Barony. The barony is lead by Jenna Cross the thin-blood, and people from all over the country are flocking to her banner and the promise of safety it provides. Unfortunately they control the smallest amount of territory, and what they do have is a lot of suburbs, which is not prime hunting territory. This problem is exacerbated by:
The Sabbat *not* killing their victims (huge restraint on their part, I know) and instead leaving them with major blood loss and injuries on the street. Theyāre then taken to the hospital and given blood transfusions, limiting the amount of bagged blood Dr. Eerie (the baronyās Reeve, a surgeon at the hospital) can smuggle out to his barony. He can only get away with taking the expired churn, both because morals and logistics, but also the hospital is in a different barony and thereās a risk he would get his ass beat by a random coterie from Downtown if they thought he was āoversteppingā
Regular style human gangs have been putting a lot of pressure on the local homeless encampments, taking ātaxesā from their panhandling and whatnot, forcing them to dissipate. This easier access resource is incredibly important for the Thin-Bloods in the barony because of their ostracism from other spaces, kindred and not. Itās a common problem among the anarchs that they donāt tend to have as much access to the same hunting grounds as Camarilla vampires, just like. Demographically. So if those herds leave everyoneās feeling the pain a lot harder.
There are gonna be more mouths to feed coming in soon, some Thin-Blood refugees, coming in from Boston escaping Quinton King. Of course theyāre welcome, but secretly their arrival creates more worry: now there are mouths to feed, and the problem compounds.
The. Barony has a herd using the top level of their base as regular sportsbar, and the patrons are fed from, but thatās rationed very strictly. Only one point of blood per person at a time. These are either regular people but also regular blood dolls, and if people start dying the patrons wonāt visit anymore. Itās enough for most of them to get by without needing to hunt if they do nothing but wake up at night, but itās not nearly enough to replenish the blood pool.
And unfortunately, everyoneās starting to use a lot more blood because of the Sabbat moving in. Luckily Dr. Eerie can help mitigate by being a healbot (he is making veryyyy heavy use of the Vital Fluids combo discipline) but like. Still. Itās a precious resource but they need to use it to defend themselves.
Which means that the players have a lot of space for options to come up with potential solutions to deal with this problem. Also, it dovetails thematically with the players figuring out hunting and what that means for them as not-people-anymore. Iām looking forward to finding out with them!!!!
