Command Center
As a part of my Operation Organization project, I just recently finished my Command Center.
A Command Center is the first place in your home you go to the minute you get in the door. It holds your keys, wallet, incoming/outgoing mail, it has a notepad, a calendar, and sometimes even a trash.
The best thing about a Command Center is that they are totally customizable. Here’s a list of things I felt were the most necessary for mine.
Calendar- Amazon.com
Cork Board- Amazon.com
Pencil Cup- Hook Nook
Grocery List Pad- Similar item
Note Pad- Similar item
Meal Planning Sheets- PDF
Incoming / Outgoing Mail Trays- Amazon.com
Outgoing UPS Bin- The Container Store
Recycle Bin- Amazon.com
Dry Erase Boards- Amazon.com
Key / Wallet Holder- The Container Store
Here’s how it turned out!
I ended up cutting the cork to the size that fit my space.
I purchased two of the dry erase boards one for the current month, and the other for the upcoming 6mo. and for the rest of the year. I feel that this is a fast way for everyone in the house to be readily informed about all of the events, birthdays, and holidays that are to come.
The grocery list is super handy to have because the second something runs out, I just check it on the current list, and when it’s time to go shopping, my list is ready to go!
The Dinner This Week sheet is a great way to relax about dinner. At the end of each week we sit down and gather dinner ideas for the upcoming week, and then buy all the supplies needed for the weeks dinners. It’s a great solution to the “whats for dinner?” question. I made my own in Photoshop and if you like it you are welcome to it. PDF
The key rack was the biggest necessity for me. I have never lived without a key rack. This one in particular was intended to be used as a mail/key rack, but Erik has always kept his wallet (and garage door opener) near his keys, so this really worked out.
These clear mail trays are really the way to go! They separate the incoming and outgoing, and they are big enough to fit the magazines I receive in the mail.
So far this Command Center has been amazing, and now this little pocket of wasted space is a high functioning corner that even Erik quickly warmed up to!
Happy Operation Organization Friends!
Love, Anji
