Probably one of my favourite pictures from Madagascar - the Milky Way, as seen from the Mariarano village base camp. I’d never seen it in person before and it was a little bit overwhelming; to see it so big and bright in the sky made everything on Earth feel small and insignificant.
It has been a super long few weeks, but after 29 hours of travelling, I'm back home in England after my stretch as a research assistant in Madagascar. I've got SO MUCH COOL STUFF TO BLOG ABOUT but I have so SO MUCH SLEEP TO CATCH UP ON. However, brightside - I am clean!! I am wearing non-expedition clothes!! I have eaten stuff that is not rice and beans!! I have used a flushing toilet!! It's been so nice to catch up with family and friends today, I've missed home so much and my mama even baked me a cake. The EMOTIONS. 🐙
Hasn't quite sunk in that I'll be in Madagascar next week, I feel so unprepared! I'm so so excited though, after two years of degree, and two more left to go, the opportunity to get some real life research done is going to be such a nice change! I'M SO EXCITED
I will be spending 2 weeks on an expedition in Peru during July 2020, conducting surveys in the forest and white-water systems of
the Lower Yarapa River. Also extending from the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Community Reserve, surveying the black water system of the Tahuayo River and surrounding forests. I think this will be an amazing opportunity to development my network and travel. Working on terrestrial mammals, sustainable fishing/bushmeat, and endangered giant otters and jaguars.

Of all the things I might have expected to happen this year, going to Honduras to lead an OpWall expedition wasn't one of them. I'm a little bit excited.
