How was this not my first post? HOW FOOLISH.
At 72, Bergonzi still gives 110% of himself. Perfect, throbbing line. Crisp, meaningful diction. A voice only slightly worn with age but vibrant with years of experience. Simple, straightforward, and profound.
Yes, he just stands there. THANK GOD. When you have a voice like his and a soul that communicates so effortlessly, who needs elaborate sets, spastic hand movements, or cartwheels? If you just listen you will find the whole story in his voice.
It's called opera, people.
