Jacob promised himself when he was older, he would leave Goose Creek and never come back. It wasn’t because he hated the town he was born in, it wasn’t because he hated the neighbors or even the majority of the people. He just hated his life there. It had taken the life of his mother and Jacob didn’t want to be there and let it claim his own life.
His mother was a vague memory as she was taken from his life at a young age from an overdose of drugs. With no other family it was up to his father to raise him, in other cases that wouldn’t seem like a bad choice but Jacob’s father was not like any normal father. Jacob’s father was a tough as nails kind of guy and would beat Jacob till he was bloody as a pulp for making the smallest of mistakes, it was there that Jacob learned to be tough but as he got older the beating got worse and worse till it left him no other choice to run away so he did; not before making a fool of his father. Not only was his father a tough figure but he also a crime lord, the one that controlled things in town and a man that you didn’t mess with; not even family.
Jacob was only sixteen years old when he made the mistake and was soon on the road and on the run from him and the gang he ran; always staying one step ahead of him. The discovery of his musical talent didn’t come for quite some time later, after many random jobs here and there. He first worked as a bus boy at a local restaurant in a small town in Vermont and many other as he made his way away from his father. It wasn’t until he reached Ohio that he met a future band mate and his passion for music bloomed. Heather, who ended up being the bassist, recruited her brother and his best friend. Jacob taught himself how to play the guitar and they practices for hours in the sibling’s garage and when they were good enough they played at the local bars, it was all for fun but they never thought they would get signed.
Everything was a whirlwind as they were shoved at every performing opportunity, promotion photoshoots, and meeting their growing fan base. The growing fame didn’t really penetrate Jacob’s head but it did his fellow band mates. Drugs and sex became a delicacy at each stop, enough for everyone to go around, though he didn’t prefer the drugs he did indulge himself in a women now and then. The tours continued and their songs and albums kept rising to the number one spot, it was like they were on top of the world. Jacob’s came crumbling down when they reached South Carolina, the state that housed his hometown and the monster that was his father. Even though they were far from his hometown his father still was able to get to him.
An hour before the show Jacob was found behind his trailer beaten to a bloody pulp, unconscious and barely clinging to life. The show was instantly cancelled and he was rushed to the hospital where an emergency was done to stop the internal bleeding that was threatening to take his life. He pulled through but the old Jacob never returned, in its place was a cold and emotionless figure; almost like a mini copy of his father. The passion in his singing and music was still there but once he was done recording or performing in a show he would revert back to the cold person that he had become. His bandmates had noticed this and voiced their concern but he shot down their words and holed himself in his trailer room. It was when he almost delivered the same beat down on a stage prepper for a mistake on the stage set up that it was the last straw for many.
The Band went on a break, telling their fans that they needed time to create even more amazing songs but in all it was for Jacob to collect himself and try to find a way back to his old self. It was Heather who gave over the ownership to a bar that she had bought, told him to put his creative mind into the place and to help him heal. So he did, he took over the establishment in Woodbury called Artists Record located in Woodbury Plaza and made the place into a place where aspiring artists could perform and maybe find a career. The start of the place seemed to have an effect upon Jacob but would it really help heal all the years of torture? Seemed only time could tell and Woodbury to be the one to help.
In public and for his fans Jacob put on a warm appearance, smiling and being a social person but when the cameras and people are all gone he pulls into himself and becomes a cold and hard person. It is at this time that he can lash out in anger and wouldn’t care about his consequences till much later or not even at all. One of the only things that seems to bring him out of this state is his guitar and music; not really his own. Even though his is a celebrity/well known artist he doesn’t let fame get to his head and make him those out and about crazy celebrities. When Jacob is alone in company of another person, he becomes a whole different person. Not only is he cold but his care about others seems to go into hiding as he takes what he pleases and does not care with how rough he is, at the end he may be apologetic but the sincerity is unsure as his cold nature hides his true emotions from his face. The rare chances when that cold mask goes down he has been known to be the sweetest and kindest of people but it would take lots to bring that old side of him back.
