Here's a little list of plot bunnies you can use. Reblog it, expand it, suggest new ones, ask some "somebody please write/photoshop this"! This project is open to all kind of wonderful ideas and feedback and we want all Trekkies to be involved however they want to!

1. The translator never existed.
2. The translator is used only in official situations, not in everyday activities. Crews end up being multilingual.
3. The Translator is considered too unreliable in many situations. What a danger in delicate situations!
4. The translator is illegal in some places.
5. Translators take time to learn languages — this is the norm rather than the exception. What about first contacts then?
6. Texts are not translated. While the crew can talk, texts in anything but their language look like gibberish.
