Aargh!!! I’m being overrun by fic ideas…
Have a short bit featuring some of my favorite nerds; (takes place in north blue when Law is 14, Bepo, Shachi and Penguin are around 10, 15 and 16)
WARNING ⚠️ contains underage drinking, foul language and “boys being boys”
Don’t try this at home kids!
Law was definitely blaming it on the alcohol. Never mind the fact that he hadn’t been tipsy when Shachi and Penguin had bullied him into playing Truth or Dare, that was beside the point.
In a twisted way, maybe he was responsible, but seriously, how the hell was he to foresee that explaining to Shach and Peng that the old bottle with what looked like a couple of chili peppers in it, -that’s not marinating in oil, that was definitely alcohol-, was going to end up like this??
Maybe he should have been wiser, he’d been living with those two idiots for almost a year now after all…
And, alright, Law had never played Truth or Dare - never even heard of it - and that definitely was a driving factor for Shachis and Penguins insistence on playing the damn game once they found out.
Turns out the rules for the game was pretty intuitive. Law had no idea why anyone would want to participate in something that was all about putting yourself in a disadvantage to the people around you, but then again, he often had problems wrapping his mind around a lot of things people did in the name of “fun”.
“Alright,” Penguin said cheerfully as he put down 4 shot-glasses on the floor between them. “So if anyone chickens out, they have to drown one shot of the alcohol! It’s penalty for being a little bitch.”
Law zeroed in on the forth glass.
“What?” Shachi asked confused.
“Fucking remove one of those glasses, Bepo ain’t having any alcohol.” Law scowled.
“Bepo can play if he wants to, but he’s not drinking any shots. Fuck you.” Law interrupts Shachi and Penguin as they start to argue. “Bepo doesn’t need it anyway, he’s not going to take the penalty. He’s not drinking and that’s final. Doctors fucking orders.”
Bepo looked at Law with tears in his eyes at Laws insistence that he wasn’t a little bitch to such an degree he didn’t even need a penalty.
Law staunchly ignored Bepos sparkling eyes as if his life depended on it.
Penguin grumbled softly but removed one of the glasses as Shachi opened the bottle only to immediately turn his head away and sneeze before filling the glasses.
“So…” Law said in the tone of voice of a man whose starting to question every life-decision ever made leading up to this moment.
“Let the game begin!” Shachi and Penguin cheered.
Law could feel his temper rise.
“Just HOW do we pick who does what?”
Shachi and Penguin looked at each other.
“Wait, I know!” Penguin crowed as he dug through his pocket and pulled out his beat up old deck of cards. “We play One-Shot about it!”
One-Shot was a game Shachi and Penguin played a lot. Usually to determine who does what chores. It was a simple game that proclaimed that everyone takes a card and highest card wins all. It’s basically a game to determine pecking order. In this instance it’s basically the winner picks the truth or dare, the loser becomes the victim.
Law sigh’s but agrees only to immediately regret everything when he was faced with a 2 of hearts. Just to further drive home the point that the world hates him, of course he loses, and to Shachi of all people. Law glares at the older boy, silently daring him to do his worst. He doesn’t say that out loud though, he’s not stupid, and the grin on Shachis face is far too shark like for Law’s liking.
Law just knows that Shachi has something dumb and embarrassing planned for Dare (probably something like telling him to strip naked and then take a handstand and then go around the room or something equally stupid and mortifying, because Shachi’s a bastard like that) and immediately goes for Truth without even thinking it through.
Shachi grins like he just won something.
“All right! Tell us the truth about your past!”
“Yeah!” Penguin says. “You know all kinda shit about us! What were you doing before showing up here on Swallow Island randomly one day?”
Law… stops. Freezes. All and any expression is wiped from his face and his eyes go blank.
Law’s no longer in Wolf’s cabin with Bepo, Shachi and Penguin. All he sees is; Flevance, burning, his parents, dead on the floor, Doflamingo, laughing, Cora-san, dying in the snow…
Law somehow managed to snap out of it with sheer force of will. He’s not sure if he was breathing for a moment there, his lungs burn and he feels like the room is spinning. Shachi and Penguin have a look of two people who realized they Fucked Up, but before anyone can say anything, Law reaches out and drowns his drink. And then, as if to trying to assert his dominance or trying to prove that he’s not a little bitch, he takes Shachi’s and Penguin’s shots too and downs them, looking them in the eyes the whole time.
The effect was somewhat diminished by the fact that the drink was so foul it made Law’s eyes water and nose run, not to mention the coughing and gagging that followed every shot. Shachi and Penguin still looked like they were about to piss themselves though.
Law reached out and grabbed a fistful of their shirts before yanking the terrified teens closer.
“Listen up numb nuts,” Law growled in a voice that was 60% alcohol and 100% murder. “I’ll play this damn game with you, but be clear about one fucking thing. You ever ask me about my fucking history again, and I’ll hunt down whatever miserable cunt you came out of and shove you back into it. Piece. By. Piece. And you rest assured I have the damn power to do it too.”
Shachi and Penguin could only nod violently out of sheer terror.
The game continues but the three other boys are kinda tiptoeing around Law, Law doesn’t care, he’s made damn sure to make it so the other teens knows to back the fuck off, and he knows Bepo knows better than to try shit like that, not that he’d ever would.
They play a couple of rounds, Law wins a couple of times and though he’s nice to Bepo, he’s making damn sure to make the demand so outrageous that Shachi and Penguin have more or less no option but to take the damn penalty shot. It’s not like he actually wants to make them kiss each other or want to know what exactly Penguin was fantasizing about when jerking off the other day, but he knows that they’re going to drink rather than not and Law’s hell bent on making them hungover af.
A couple of hours in and Shachi has had five shots to Penguins four, they’re both kinda drunk, Law is too, but not really as bad, since he’s been sneakily removing a lot of the alcohol from his body. His drunken state leaves a lot to be desired for his effectiveness, but if he could remove a deadly toxin from his body while delirious with fever and days away from deaths door, he figures some alcohol should be child’s play.
There’s a whole bunch of silly questions and most dares stop after Penguin was dared to “jump like a frog backwards around the room” and almost ended up cracking his head open, after which Law made a new rule that no dares allowed that could result in bodily injury. Which really took most of the fun out of it, really.
They still had some spectacular moments of fun and silliness, like when Bepo was dared to try and roll into a perfect ball, which had left Law looking at him with wide eyes and marveling about the “giant white mossball”. Or when Bepo won over Law and shyly dared him to scratch his ears, which he did and kept doing for so long the game almost ended.
The next time Shachi wins over Law, Law just stares the other boy down as he once again picks “Truth”, as if saying go ahead, I fucking dare you.
Shachi just meekly asks what Laws favorite color was, and Law keeps quiet and just keeps staring for a bit, just to watch him squirm, before answering with“Yellow”. Which took the other boys by surprise before quickly divulging their own favorite colors at Laws angry glare.
(Pristine white for Shachi, mahogany brown for Penguin and gray-blue for Bepo)
Law slowly relaxes and stops holding on to his grudge against Shachi and Penguin. Partly because he is starting to have fun, and partly because he lost track of how much he made them drink. After all, he wanted them hungover and miserable, not dead to alcohol poisoning.
And by the time Penguin dares Bepo to “stick out your tongue and say ’Blep-po’!”, Law has forgotten all about how mad he was.
Law takes some comfort in knowing that he wasn’t the only one who had no idea what the older teens were talking about as they start a longwinded explanation about “the Art of Blep-ping” (Which in Laws expert opinion sounds like bs) to Bepo.
