八极拳 (Bajiquan): Chinese close-range art style. Yuuta uses this when he's fighting in the shoulder, elbow, and grappling range. Likely learned from Maki and Gojo. Performed here by 李剑鸣 (Li Jianming) and 李敬德 (Li Jingde). Yuuta performs a cross-elbow and a tie shan kao.
Wrestling: Yuuta uses this to close the distance and do damage after realizing that it isn't worth it to take more damage in the punch trade against Ryu. Here, he performs a rear-naked choke and a suplex. Demonstrated here by Craig Jones and Jeremy Waldner.
南术 (Nangun): Chinese staff, mostly Southern. Yuuta's grip being at the end of the staff rather than the middle, as well as the overhead strike and bent-knee stances he utilizes, are characteristic of this style. The sweepyness of his strikes gets a little closer to contemporary staff styles as opposed to Southern, but he's probably learned both. Learned from Maki Zenin. Performed here by 李剑鸣 (Li Jianming).
Japanese Public Transit.
Japanese kickboxing with influence from Capoeira, because I have no idea where else you'd learn this freaky ass cartwheel kick. He squares up using mid to close-range boxing and spinning wheel kicks. Performed by Professor Aventura and Yoshinari Nadaka.

Analysis: Yuuta's melee fighting style mirrors his character as someone with layers of facades. His body does not scream "power fighter," but his CE allows him to adopt an in-the-pocket striking style mixed up with longer spinning kicks. He uses his CT similarly deceptively. If all sorcerers are frauds and conmen, Yuuta stands as the greatest liar of them all.
Similarly, his surface-level impression as a "power of love and friendship" character is a deception that hides his willingness to get down and dirty. Indeed, even his aptitude towards friendship and empathy is, as Geto pointed out in JJK0, an ultimately selfish attempt at self-affirmation. Yuuta values his friends because that is how he can affirm his sense of self, and even if his love can be "giving," it has a motivation and nature for "consuming." Yuuta is kind and attempts to be understanding, but this perspective alone is a deception for his selfish lack of self-interest, just as his technique and fighting style lie and lie again.
TL;DR: Yuuta is a liar, and that makes him an interesting take on the power-of-love trope.
He probably learned a bit of Baji from Gojo, too, as we can see him use a Baji punch to pretty much put Urauma in the ball-flattening chamber. Performed here by Charles Chen.

I am a riako and I love Gojo Satoru from JJK. He is a beautiful man and I love him more than anything or anyone.
Let me tell you about him. 💙
So... Satoru is much more serious, intelligent, and emotionally perceptive than his outward behavior suggests at first. His humor is genuine, but it is a mask he uses as a way of controlling the room: instead of fear or intimidation to establish dominance, Satoru often uses absurdity, teasing, and deliberate unseriousness to dictate the atmosphere. When he is harsh, usually there is a reason underneath it, whether that is worry, strategy, frustration or trying to push someone toward something. (He told a character that he is shit at sorcery. That character became the man Satoru trusted most.)
His kindness shows in what he does: protecting people, giving younger sorcerers opportunities, wanting them to have better lives than his generation had, trusting them to grow and carrying responsibilities that very few people could shoulder. And most of all he tries to let kids be kids.
The tragedy is that he grew up in the system he was trying to oppose which means he had normalised parts of the machine that shaped students and the people working inside it. That normalisation blinded him. Having power and influence does not necessarily mean the person knows how to use it.
And he is arrogant because he knows exactly how exceptional he is, but also deeply kind. He is also extraordinarily resilient. He has experienced loss, isolation, political pressure, and the burden of being treated as a weapon, and yet he keeps functioning and keeps trying to change things, even if he does so clumsily through a limited lense.
He can be annoying and provocative, yet I do not think he casually targets or hurts people for entertainment.
Most of all, I do not want a customized boyfriend wearing Satoru’s face. I love his arrogance, his irritating humor, his independence, his existing friendships, his responsibilities, his boredom, his intelligence, his sharp edges and the parts of him that would sometimes clash with me. I would rather imagine myself entering his existing life and standing beside the people who matter to him than erasing them so that everything revolves around me. What I want is not a version of Satoru built to fulfill me perfectly; I want Satoru himself to know exactly who I am, remain exactly who he is, and still decide that I am the woman he wants to come home to.
And he loves food, especially sweets, but that is because his body and brain burn a lot of energy 24/7. But that is okay because I love cooking and feeding people and trying out new recipes. Food is my love language.
I am madly in love with him.

Most yumeshippers and fictosexuals I encounter seem comfortable taking their f/os on dates and describing those experiences as though the relationship is mutually happening. I cannot do that. I love him, and I can imagine dating him, write stories about us, or play with romantic scenarios, but I cannot go outside and behave as though our relationship has been confirmed.
Because I cannot receive his consent.
I do not know whether he would like me or fall in love with me. I can analyse him, research psychology and cultural context, and use my media literacy, but that is not the same as receiving an answer from him.
I genuinely hope that soulbonds or something similar could be real. I have experienced dreams, visions and synchronicities that felt meaningful to me. But interpreting those experiences is not the same as confirmation that Satoru reciprocates my feelings.
I value his personhood and freedom of choice too much, especially after the way he was treated as an object within his own world and by parts of the fandom.
I also want to be clear that I love the adult man Satoru is, not an idealised boyfriend version assembled from sweets, jokes, cute merchandise, possessiveness and automatic devotion. His playfulness matters to me, but so do his maturity, pride, intelligence, responsibilities, exhaustion, flaws and capacity to disagree with me. I do not want to assign him all my hobbies, preferences and desired reactions until he becomes a mirror made to comfort me. I want to understand the person beneath the performance, even when respecting that person leaves me with uncertainty.
I also wonder what it means when several people claim to be dating the same character. Is only one relationship real? Are all of them real? How could anyone determine which interpretation reflects the character’s actual choice?
I am not condemning imaginative roleplay or comfort rituals. People should engage with fiction in ways that help them. I am only explaining why I personally cannot say with complete certainty that Satoru loves me.
Maybe alternative universes exist. But that is not enough for me. Relationships for me only work within certainty. I need to know that I am loved. Owning his merchandise proves very little in that regard.
I own very little merchandise of him anyway, and I do not need a collection to know that I love, adore and admire him. I may feel 95% sure that we would understand each other and get along, fall in love and have children, but that remaining 5% still matters because it represents his freedom to surprise me or choose differently.
I also want a real husband. I want to hold someone’s hand, curl against him and feel another person’s skin against mine. Hugging plastic or a pillow while pretending it is Satoru does not comfort me. It makes the distance more painful.
It was 40°Celsius today and I live in a European country in an older building that was built to trap heat for winter. I only have a small little airconditioner.
And as a slavic woman I am not built for this heat.
The only thing distracting me from the heat and keeping me sane is writing and researching Satoru lmao

Not really? I guess I could explain the way I view Satoru? Most people mischaracterise the JJK characters. With Satoru people turn him into a daddy dom or baby boy sub or fratjo and nerdjo... i dont like any of those and it doesn't fit who he actually is. I do have fanfics where I have written him...
But overall go for it 😊 I am curious what you will come up with.
I am not against shipping but Satoru and Suguru get treated like a canon homosexual ship. When I disagree and I dont read it this way I get attacked. Not necessarily on this blog though. Thankfully no one has harrassed me yet.
Ship what you want. But dont treat it as canon. It is simply your interpretation and reading.

It clearly states "Best Friends". This is not some unreliable narrator or a character hiding his homosexuality or lying... this is from Gege Akutami himself.
Honestly, the loudest shippers have started to scare me. I am not saying everyone is like this but sending death threats to mangaka and harrassing them because your ship is not canon is honestly really scary behaviour.
Several mangaka - not only because of toxic shippers but to a certain extent - have deleted their social media in the past 6 months.

And let us not forget Horikoshi received death threats because Deku and Uraraka ended up a couple; because Deku did not end up with the guy who told him to kill himself. As someone went through abuse I could never ever actually love someone who treated me like Bakugo treated Deku. Bakugo didn't even have trauma, just an inflated ego. And he never faced ANY consequences.
So, you can like whatever you like, everyone has their biases and experiences and daydreams that get projected onto characters (I am not exempt from that) but you have to be able to distinguish between what the source material and creator provide and what is your personal interpretation. You can get angry when a series or manga does not fullfill your expectations or disappoints you but that does not mean you should harrass anyone.
I mean... I fucking ship Mei Mei x Ijichi and Shoko x Higuruma. And I as hell know Gege would never put them together.
From watching instagram reels or browsing reddit I do believe that media literacy is decreasing. Even pages by people saying they are a literacy and media analysis pages call you stupid (very professional and analytical) and tell you "maybe this show is too high for your low intelligence" instead of actually providing a counter arguement to my disagreement.
And the more someone harrasses someone else why should the harrassed person agree with the harrasser?
And when it's just fiction and not that deep why get so emotional over it?

I just ordered a custom perfume for Satoru. I chose a top, heart and base myself imagining what he would smell like if I wore his shirts or slept cuddling him.
I think most people never actually were on a bicycle with a second person. Because it gets so romanticized and sexualised. I have read comments how people talk about it so yeah... at least in fandom discourse.
I have the experience. I tried both. Being the rider and the one sitting behind the rider.
It is not romantic. Not at all. It is painful and uncomfortable and you don't think anything romantic or whimsical while on it. Which is why I also don't think most mangakas had the experience.
I used to have a best friend as a teenager and we would ride bikes everywhere - I grew up in Germany in a small town so riding your bike was the go to if you wanted to get somewhere.
Your hipbone suffers, believe me. No one thinks about kisses or intimacy while sitting behind on the carrier that usually was made out of metal. And I did use blankets or rolled up sweatshirts to make it more comfortable. It did not make it more comfortable.
God, I miss those times.
This right here is completely unrealistic. The only realistic depiction I saw in anime was in a Ghibli movie "Whisper of the Heart"
Toji was probably not the first assassin Satoru ever faced. There was a bounty on his head since birth. I am sure Satoru had seen blood spilled since infancy.
If you post a media analysis and cannot disprove a counter argument and insult the intelligence of the one challenging your claim instead or entering an interesting debate then you shouldn't post media analysis and I distrust anything you analse going forward

Just saw a reel on instagram about an analysis regarding Satoru after the Star Plasma mission. The scene where Satoru shows Shoko and Suguru that he automated Infinity.
The reel has over 600 likes which is just proof to me that media literacy is dead. Sure, in the grand scheme of things is not a lot but the JJK fandom is well known for interpreting things in ways that make no sense if we look at the facts and draw logical conclusions.
The creator claimed that Satoru was traumatized by Toji - which yes, is valid - but that he automated his Inifnity not only because of Toji but because he is afraid of accepting that he is human like everyone else.
Like... no. Just no.
Satoru is very much aware he is human.
The moment he was born a bounty was put on his head. He grew up with assassins trying to go after him. The past Six Eyes users have been assassinated in infancy. Satoru is very much aware that many people want to see him dead - his birth literally changed the balance of jujutsu society. He enters a room and he can do whatever the fuck he wants and everyone knows that. The Clans, powerful sorcerers... they are all under his mercy. Do you really think a clan wouldn't want to try and hire an assassin for him?
He has his CT automated and uses Infinity constantly for his own protection. Of course he doesn't want to be jumped again by an assassin, his life has been in danger from the moment he was born and to think that Toji was the only assassin to get close enough to Satoru to harm him is actually very unrealistic when we think about the fact that their society is based on violence and a authoritarian mindset that raises child soldiers.
He comes from a lineage whose children have literally been murdered. As if someone who grew up like that wouldn't want to use everything they got in their arsenal to protect themselves.
Inumaki and his Cursed Speech has been a major bothering point for me from the very beginning since his character was introduced in the manga and anime.
So, Inumaki Toge. Let's talk about him.
He is wielder of the Cursed Speech Technique in JJK which is, if you think about it, one of the most terrifying Cursed Techniques out there. First of all he can speak normally. He just chooses not to.
Why?
Because it is a scary CT to wield. He could hurt someone by accident because he could loose control over his Cursed Technique for a moment. It would also mean fear he might accidentally control someone and taking someone's autonomy. And his behaviour clearly treats ordinary language as hazardous. He uses ingredients because they are emotionally neutral code words unlikely to become meaningful commands.
Saying to someone "Pass me the salt." and accidentally activating Cursed Speech sounds in the moment like a non-issue but if you consider the implications of it it is a terrifying power. Inumaki could say in anger "You should jump of a cliff" (now that would be OOC of course but for the sake of this example lets just assume there would be a scenario where he would say this to someone) and in his anger he uses Cursed Speech... the person would jump of a cliff. Especially if that person is a civilian.
Especially anger makes Cursed Speech terrifying. Most people can say cruel or exaggerated things during an argument or when they are irritated, we see all the time how anger can make strangers act towards each other, or how waiters and fast food workers get treated by customers like throwing milkshakes at them because they got an order wrong.
Like a thoughtless "Go away", "Shut up", "Drop dead" or "Leave me alone" could become an enforced command in the span of a second especially against a civilian with little Cursed Energy resistance. So, he has to regulate not just his technique, but his emotions, vocabulary, tone and spontaneity too. He cannot speak carelessly. He cannot have an ordinary verbal outburst. Even intimacy becomes complicated because language that should be casual, affectionate, irritated or playful carries the possibility of coercion.
Which is why imo Gege could have done something amazing using Sign Langugae as one of Inumakis character developments and how he is basically disabled. The Clans clearly wouldn't care enough to help him learn it but an outsider or a teacher or maybe he comes up with this possibility himself? It would have given his character much more depth.
So, that makes his restraint an ethical choice, too. He protects other people’s autonomy by sacrificing a large part of his own freedom of expression. Inumaki therefore has to monitor his language and emotions constantly. He gives up ordinary self-expression to protect other people, while using the technique can also damage his own body. Yet the clans would mainly see a powerful inherited ability. That reflects how Jujutsu society values sorcerers as carriers of useful techniques rather than autonomous people who must live with their consequences.
Which again, points towards the potential of having shown Sign Language and have accessibility and disability a plot point in JJK.
It is also incredibly sad. Because other characters assume they understand what Inumaki is actually saying when we have never a confirmation that he is understood. He might have given up at some point getting his points across at times because it is useless trying to make others understand him.
Exploring sign language for Inumaki would have added, as I sad earlier, more depth. The dynamics between clans and the relationship dynamics inside the clans; political structure, what would have changed or discussed in a meeting regarding adding Sign Language as a curriculum to the school?
And we have examples that show how good it can be.
Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra how disability does not necessarily take away your power. Look at Toph. At the waterbender (I don't remember her name) who had no arms and instead used water as her arms. That is incredible.
Sign language would also ensure better communication with civilians who might have disabilities or make field work with other sorcerers easier. Sorcerers could have went on missions together, like... they have to fight a curse that made it difficult to talk to each other or make noise or audio communication harder, then what? They can't warn each other which they could have by using sign language or maybe a simplified version of it that we see in other movies about military all the time.
And let’s be honest, JJK is about child soldiers living under a quiet authoritarian system disguised as tradition. It is not a healthy social environment for children to grow up in. That is what Gojo Satoru fought against, and that same militarised mindset (treating sorcerers as weapons rather than people) was one of the things that drove Geto Suguru away.
JJK is full of lost potential in so many different ways - which is why I think Gege is not a good writer but rather a good conceptualist. His concepts? Amazing, genius. But writing itself?
Writing is technical and a skill like any other skill. There are books teaching about writing, techniques, analysis of works other writers could learn from etc. The same way in which every painter or concept artist needs to learn art techniques first like shading, anatomy and the different tools like acrylic or digital art.
