it was everything he wanted to hear. that his charms and advances were working to his advantage. yet, why did he find himself feeling a pang of guilt? his plan was WORKING PERFECTLY, the petite princess was falling for him like he’d wanted. was he feeling bad because he was also falling for her? that certainly WASN’T part of the plan. “perhaps you shouldn’t, i’m not as good a man as i seem, princess.” he was surprised at himself for how honest he was being. perhaps that was the guilt. 

She twirled the stem of a small yellow flower between her fingertips for a moment. “After all, if life were fair, good things wouldn’t happen to bad people, and vice versa, right? And people who’d done nothing wrong wouldn’t... get hurt.”
