中国Tencent（騰訊）とタイOokbee、タイのデジタルコンテンツ市場開拓に向け新会社Ookbee Uを共同設立
タイ拠点のデジタルコンテンツプラットフォーム Ookbee は中国のインターネット巨人 Tencent（騰訊）と提携し、新たなユーザジェネレイティッドコンテンツ会社 Ookbee を設立した。
Tencent は初期投資を注入しているが、その金額については開示していない。しかし、本件に詳しい人々によれば、投資額は数千万ドルに上ると見られる。
Ookbee U はユーザジェネリティッドのコミック、音楽、ブログ、フィクション、小説などコンテンツのエコシステム形成に特化することになる。今後3年間で、100万件のコンテンツを生成することを計画している。
正式プレスリリースで、Tencent はタイにおけるプレゼンス向上にコミットするとも述べている。

総合ファッション動画メディア「C CHANNEL」を運営するC Channelは2月19日、ASEANで電子書籍事業を展開するOokbee Company Limitedと提携し、C CHANNELタイをオープンすると発表した。また、同社は月間の動画再生回数が3700万回に到達したことも公表している。
昨年4月10日に公開されたC CHANNELはスマートフォン対応の縦型動画スタイルや「クリッパー」と呼ばれるユーザー主導型のコンテンツ制作手法もさることながら、前LINE代表取締役の森川亮氏の新プロジェクトということもあって大いに注目を集めた。
