Ok so I have seen a lot of people say that it is so weird that Gooseworx and the TADC cast are getting a lot of shit and OneyPlays is being left alone. I've heard the claim that it's because Goose is a trans woman, and, like, that is not why but it does have something to do with it.
It’s the fans. TADC fans are mostly younger and queer/neurodivergent (at least from what I have seen online and IRL), they are a bit more… I guess “sensitive” (for lack of a better term) i.e. they are more unaware of the actual implications of actions (and the context around them) and thus think that it is justified and empowering to “deplatform” creators over minor things because they are very isolated and unaware. Most hardcore TADC fans don’t fully grasp the idea that the world will never be as “woke” (again, for lack of a better term) as they want it to be and are more comfortable going after small(er) creators* who are in their community. They don’t really know how to make a difference and going after small creators who made the mildest human offenses gives them euphoria, whilst Ony plays fans like rubbing their big greasy bellies.
ok but in all seriousness, the OneyPlays cast say the R-slur and the F-slur as well as some of the most unsavory shit, but they get no real flack. Like if anyone on the TADC crew said something half as bad as the average Tomar hypothetical I think TADC fans would actually go violent. The main reason people don't care is that OneyPlays fans are like, real people. They understand that Chris and Crew both cause no harm and mean no harm, that they are all in their mid-to-late 30's, and are all from the NewGrounds scene. In fact Gooseworx (who btw did nothing wrong and deserves some fucking space and kindness) is an OneyPlays fan and was on Slightly Artistic. OneyPlays is not getting any shit because they cultivated a fanbase that does not care. note that I say all of this as someone who enjoys both TADC and OneyPlays and is also Nonbinary, Bisexual, and very radicalized.
That is really all I have to say on that specific subject, and I know I am putting a massive target on my balls saying all this on Tumblr, but there is a lot more I have to say about the TADC fandom and those who make it up that that is a TedTalk for another day.
