Out of curiosity, why did Rose think that the destabilization field was going to work on Steven, given her family life she's been hit with Yellow's lightning enough to know that she's resistant to it, so why make the assumption that White isn't resistant to it (if not flat out immune) as well.
She had no way of knowing if it would work, really, but it was worth a try because for one thing, she had begun to believe that Steven maybe didn’t have his old memories of being White and would therefore not KNOW he couldn’t go through.
Also, in part the whole process itself was a litmus test. I didn’t draw it out in the comics but the expectation was that Rose never really went far from the barn for those first few days - Steven not trying to go outside was another indicator of how she would judge him.
Plus like, it’s a containment field. I’m presuming if he DID try to leave, Rose would be alerted somehow.
