Tbh even though he’s absolutely a terrible person and villain, I don’t think that we can just chalk up onigumo’s feelings to merely “lust”. I think Onigumo, in his own twisted way, started to care for/love Kikyo. She was the only person who ever showed him kindness (of her own volition) even though she knew he had done terrible things in the past. That’s why they always refer to his “heart” and how it’s the only thing stopping Naraku from killing Kikyo for the entire freaking series. Lust is not held in the heart. Only love is. 

i think you’re absolutely right!!! i think a lot of his love AND hate for her stemmed from his desperation and frustration at her being the only human contact he had in a state of disability. he was a criminal too -- not a good man -- and the unconditional nature of her care was probably a whole mixture of humiliating/adoring/hateful feelings. what matters is that the CORE of his transformation into naraku was founded on a desire to have her, and therefore, it was literally the one thing about himself naraku could never change :’)
