“Must I? How am I supposed to choose between family and love?”

They had all just finished a meeting together and were now being paired up with a more experienced pilot. Some of the older war dogs were muttering, clearly GRUMPY with the situation, but most of them looked ANXIOUS. With the threat of war looming closer and closer, the idea of them getting fresh faces was both a blessing and a curse. How many would survive? Most of the pilots were younger than Danny, but in terms of age, the new pilot was still considered well...young.

Finds himself face to face with a tired looking man. Older by Danny by...he’d guess by a good five years or so. Possibly more.  Broad shoulders, sharp blue eyes, much like his own. Hair cropped close to his sides. Danny is taller, but the man is...intimidating, but good looking. A real man’s man.  He had his share of hard trainers during his training period, but -... a quick look at his name patch - Farrier seemed to command a quiet respect that Danny instantly admires. They would be going up in an hour for their first routine flyby together, and the younger man can’t help but hope his new partner isn’t as grumpy and ANGRY at him as he glances around as most of the others seem to have a rough go with it.

          “Sir? Danny Collins, sir. Ah’m -... Group Captain Jones told me to find you.” Pauses, finding himself nervous, but continues on. Has heard his other colleagues suck up, try to act indifferent, or think that they know more. That they can do more.

          “ --... ah’ll have your back, sir.
