THE CASE OF ONODERA RITSU 30 SUMMARY/TRANSLATION
Final Part//
When Ritsu arrives home Nao asks him how his feeling and if he can eat. Ritsu just says he’s fine as usual. Nao shows Ritsu what he’s been working on and Ritsu apologizes for disrupting his work and making him take care of him.
Nao: “What are you going on about?”
He says how he’s taken care of Ritsu so many times that this is a piece of cake. He goes on about how they always used to eat together late at night in their room. As he says he’s going to warm up their food right now, Ritsu finally brings it up. “I want you out of here by tomorrow morning.”.
The sudden subject change makes things a bit awkward and Nao is aware he’s overstayed his welcome by this point but he starts to make the excuse that Ritsu still isn’t better so there’s no way he could just leave him alone like this. He says he’ll get out of here once Ritsu’s better and be sure to pay the rent without worry. But Ritsu is standing his ground “That’s not what I meant.”. He reminds Nao that they’d agreed it was going to be until yesterday so he wants him to keep his promise and leave. He apologizes to Nao for saying all this after he looked after him in so many ways but that he needs to set things straight since he considers Nao an important friend.
Ritsu: “Um, you said that you liked me, but I can’t reciprocate your feelings.” Nao: “So that’s why we can’t be under the same roof?”
Inconsiderate of Ritsu’s feelings, Nao relays to Ritsu how he takes things too seriously and that like he told him beforehand; he’s not in any rush for his response. He suggests maybe they go somewhere to hang out either tomorrow or the day after if he’s feeling better, but Ritsu’s not having it and calls Nao out on his lie that morning.
Ritsu: “I remembered about the time I collapsed. Takano-san was in my apartment, right?”
Nao can’t continue with that lie now and even admits it’s not good to tell lies you’re not used to telling. He finally tells Ritsu the truth; how he collapsed at the entrance as “Saga-san” was leaving for work and how he took care of Ritsu until Nao got back. “Why did I lie?” because Nao says he wants to keep Ritsu and “Saga-san” separated. Ritsu asks why he’d want to do that. Nao says he doesn’t trust Takano and reminds Ritsu that even he himself is hesitant about him too. He doesn’t think there’s anyway “Saga-san” could be Ritsu’s partner so there’s no need for him to get hurt so many times over him. He tells Ritsu that he knows he can’t forget his first love but that he can’t move forward if he never lets go. Nao says he never usually gets involved in other people’s personal business, but Ritsu’s an exception because he likes him. “I saw how much you suffered and I was closer to you than anybody else.” so then “Fall in love with me.”. He wants to hold Ritsu dearly and says he would never hurt him, but Ritsu only sees Nao as an important friend. When he relays this out-loud, it sets something off in Nao as he says “Then how about you give it a try?”.
He grabs Ritsu by the arm and pushes him to the floor and attempts to assault him with Ritsu repeatedly telling him to stop. At one point, Nao even nudges his private parts which gives Ritsu a huge shock. He stares at Ritsu, says his name and Ritsu tries to push his face away from him and tells him to stop. Nao grabs Ritsu’s arm and it’s when he leans in for a kiss that Ritsu punches him to get him to finally stop.
Immediately realising he’s just hurt his friend, Ritsu profusely apologizes and asks if he’s okay. Nao asks if Ritsu seriously just hit him (um… pretty natural response dude. You assaulted him). Ritsu tries to say he didn’t mean to do that, it was a reflex, and asks if he might have caught his tongue by accident. Head bowing down, holding his face, Nao stays quiet despite Ritsu’s pleas. When he finally speaks it's with defeat "Yeah, I knew this already”. He tells Ritsu that he’s going head out to cool off for a bit and when he comes back he’s leaving. After he leaves, Ritsu grips his wrist and says that the way Nao grabbed his arm was gentle. In his mind, Ritsu admits that if he could like Nao it might have been for the best as Nao had said. He’s always watching over him, encouraging him, at times scolding him, always staying by his side and following after him. Ritsu gets a text from Takano saying good work and asking how he’s been feeling since before. When he sees the text, it’s like he’s reminded how much of a mess he’s in. Ritsu: “I’m getting hurt over and over, but I can’t give up.” He needs to eat a little, shower after he eats, and finish up his take-home work. And then he’ll… Then he’ll… “............I want to see Takano-san”

Okay yeah, I’m sorry the summaries took so long to come out. The previous computer I was using was a nightmare to work with with the mouse constantly not working so being unable to edit even when I had finished the summaries back in January. Summaries/translations will be coming out soon for ONB31 (the recent chapter) so keep a look out for that and they’ll come out a lot quicker than these too! I’m glad I have a better computer now 😭
