I think one of the biggest issues in my life is the big D...

delay.

Yes, you heard that right. And I'm a writer. Probably not the best combination—an impatient person and a languid, unhurried industry? Well, you might be surprised. This industry has forced me—literally—to wait. To slow down, take a break—breeeeaaaaathe.

I've been forced to chill out and step back—to see the big picture. To stop rushing (the biggest error of my youth) and make sure that I am the best I can be right now, whilst always looking for ways to improve.

I'm stubborn by nature, so when I am forced to take things slow, I won't quit: I'll allow it, knowing that it is part of the larger scheme of things. As I entered my mid twenties, I realized that delay isn't a bad thing. It is allowing me to make something I might have missed in my days of rushing to the finish.

Can I sit on a manuscript for a month before I hack at it? Well, no. But I can wait a few days, and that my friends, is pretty darn amazing.
