events have happened differently enough that Omi never swore to stay by Chase's side before being turned into a cat, and also the other monks managed to cast a spell to hide Omi from Chase's tracking magic forever. unfortunately they were all turned into jungle cats right after and are trapped in Chase's lair, as bait to lure Omi back. Omi was the only one able to escape

it only takes like a day for Jack to decide he's not giving Omi back to Chase, and also he's gonna break Omi's curse and they're gonna be best friends forever. and sure, maybe they can even try to save Omi's other friends too!

Jack Plot 255: Sci Fi AU

where Wu are not just magic artifacts scattered on earth, but across the galaxy and must be hunted down to stop an impending disaster and universal conquest by the Heylin race.

Jack would be a hybrid, half heylin, half Xiaolin despite the two races being mortal enemies. Which is why, despite his potential, he is treated poorly and belittled by both sides. He was raised by the Heylin and wishes nothing more than acceptance, but they will never give it. He's not quite old enough to realize his longing is a lost cause.

Both his parents were killed for falling in love and reproducing with a member of the opposite race.

Heylin have long pointed ears and Xiaolin have small rounded ones. Aside from their innate magical capabilities there's not much difference between them and humans. Heylin keep their hair long for all, and Xiaolin keep it short, most males not even having any. Guan, Dashi, Omi for example. Jack being half, tries to grow his hair out but it grows very slowly and any time he's gotten it to an acceptable length by heylin standards someone chops it off to further ostracize him. His ears are also round like his Xiaolin parent.

Chase hates Jack especially because Jack is a constant reminder of how close he'd been to the same fate as Jack's parents with his friendship and leanings towards Guan.

The heylin and Xiaolin actually live on a twin planet, two smaller planets that orbit each other. Thus their longstanding rivalry and hatred. Omi is a young Xiaolin sent by his master to find the legendary Shen Gong Wu. The first of which having resided on Earth where he made friends with a group of human children and they joined him on his quest.

Meanwhile, having found out about Omi's quest, the Heylin send Jack out to deal with the minor inconvenience. Both getting rid of the pathetic hybrid, and making the Xiaolin think they actually give a fuck about these ancient children's toys called Wu.

Jack is lead to believe if he succeeds at collecting the Wu before Omi does, he will finally be accepted into the Heylin as one of them. It's the only thing he's ever wanted. But he constantly fails at the task. The human kids see him as nothing more than the bad guy they have to stop. But Omi can tell Jack is definitely NOT a Heylin and can't understand why he works so hard for them, occasionally trying to bring Jack to accept being Xiaolin instead. Usually such offers are countered by a well timed check in from Chase or Wuya to make sure Jack's doing what he's told.

At the end of the quest, Jack pulls a last minute low blow and steals all the Wu Omi had gathered presenting them and the captured Omi and humans to Chase. Jack's So excited he can hardly hold still and he's smiling so wide but the minute the Wu are in Heylin hands, Chase orders the guards to lock up the prisoners AND that pathetic Spicer. Jack is confused and hurt because he did everything he was supposed to! He did what they said! He won!

But they don't care. Jack is locked up with the others and distraught he curls up in the corner and is subjected to the humans yelling at and insulting him. But not Omi. Omi looks at him sadly and offers a hand to the poor boy which he really was. Barely older than the rest of them.

But Jack doesn't want to accept, he's already been betrayed by the ones who should have cared why should he trust his enemies? The humans snap at him and Omi sighs then they start planning and make their escape without Jack.

Meanwhile, Jack is in the dungeon still and wuya saunters in to snark and ridicule him as is her favorite pastime. When she reveals they're going to blow up the other planet she gets Jack's full attention. They were a twin system. They needed both planets to survive. The sudden need to stop this unlocks his potential which had been stifled for so long and he incapacitates wuya and escapes.

Jack is the last person anyone expects to come bursting in to the bridge to stop them, but there he was, and while the heylin laughed and mocked about what a pathetic half breed could ever do, Jack makes them eat their words, successfully cutting off the Wu activation and using the surprise and some of his favorite of the Wu magics to defend Omi and the humans before they all attacked and this time, they won.

After the battle Omi cling hugs to Jack shocking him beyond reason and going on and on about he'd always know Jack was a good guy.

Chase and Wuya were locked up and it's found that Jack's actual lineage had been the previous Heylin in charge whom Wuya had killed when his relations with a Xiaolin diplomat were discovered, thus making Jack the technical ruler of the Heylin. His first act was ending the stupid petty war who no one could even recall the start of.

Jack and Omi return the human kids to earth and remain close from then on. Perhaps growing closer than they'd meant to as they grow up.
