I agree. Whedon forced TOO much into this movie without thinking about it/the previous movies/future movies. Which sucks since thats what writers have to work with it now(arguably. Im sure no one would mind ignoring some of the dumb shit Whedon did in AoU since he ignored plenty of Phase2).

Which is another problem with BruceNat too, since their forced ‘romance’ literally went NOWHERE and did nothing for either of the characters... Whedon shoulda just cut it and added more to Wanda and Pietros story. (or built up Steve and Tonys friendship for CW or adding Sam to things or letting Helen get some revenge for her mind fuck like Clint did in the first Avengers...or elaborate on Thors weird pool of destiny.... or ANYTHING???)

They coulda done away with Clints family as well.(hinting at them instead of just having them be suddenly there? Clint doesnt tell his supposedly trusted team about his family? Probably because he thought itd be dangerous.... but then brings them to his family when they have a murderbot on their tail???).

And why waste time on that weird guys story about how hes scared of cuttlefish or w/e in a movie already so pressed for time...

Here’s something I don’t think you you actually asked for, and I honestly wouldn’t blame you if you disregarded it.  But, hey, it could be the source of a good laugh? Stony got started decades ago by the comics.  There’s a list of EVERY shippable moment between them on LJ somewhere w/ links to picture proof [Edit: I googled for it. Apparently they created a tumblr to better share the pictures: http://cap-im.tumblr.com/ . Also, being as the tumblr account seems to only share actual canon comic, I did run into Rhodey and Fury in their posts, but only once.   Then again, I only went a handful of pages in].  The relationship in MCU is vastly different than in the comic, even down to character history. I’m also speaking of the “616verse” which is the original universe of Marvel characters (every parallel universe as its own number, I suppose. I think Reed Richards is the one who canonically assigns that number???  Therefore, I am ignoring that one universe where Tony is a woman and canonically marries Steve) Also keep in mind that I slacked off of keeping up with the comic once the Civil War arc got started, so my vague memories are coming from before that massive fall out. Here are some of the biggest differences that come to mind right now: (Sorry, you might have to zoom in to read some of the pics I linked.) ComicTony is a GIANT Captain America fanboy.  Seriously, Phil would be put to shame when compared.  He even has a Captain America Tribute Room. It was ComicTony (as Iron Man, along with Ant Man [as in Hank Pym], Wasp, and Thor) who thaw Steve out, not Shield.  Also, ComicTony lets all the Avengers move into his mansion, which turns into Avengers HQ.   I’m not sure if Steve lives there full time, but he does have his own bedroom there.  Tony kept up the secret identity in the comics at this point, so Steve’s first impressions of Tony Stark is solely positive. Also ComicTony almost always seems to be trying to impress Steve or live up to Steve’s expectations.  ComicTony’s done several crazy things for Steve, even sacrificing himself for the SLIM possibility of Steve surviving (Tony’s thoughts were roughly along the lines of “Cap is more important than me”) ComicSteve seems to love flying with Iron Man.  And, yes, this means that Iron Man carries Steve around a lot.  And into battle.  And, let me tell you, it is HARD not to see them as a couple when reading those particular moments. http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/TonySteveYA.jpg ComicSteve personally trains Tony in hand to hand combat.  You probably know where a lot of people went with that, lol. ComicSteve and Tony do seem to run to each other’s aid a lot as well.  I mean in the drop-everything-immediately kind of way. ComicTony made Steve a suit of armor.  MCU gave that suit to Rhodey.   You guessed it.  The Iron Patriot was originally designed by Tony as a gift for Steve. ComicSteve and Tony idolize each other as well, now that I think about it. ComicSteve is convinced that Tony is the soul of the Avengers.  And the first time that Steve steps up as team leader, way back when, he was nervous about trying to be as good a leader as Tony was (Actually, that seems to be a common theme).   Also, ComicSteve’s idea of getting Tony to go with him is to tackle him.  And, no, not a normal tackle either.  No, Steve’s idea was to jump onto Tony in such a way that his crotch was in Tony’s face. Anyways, Stony became supper popular due to the way they are written in comic verse.  Long term shippers try to apply it to the movies (which lack even the basics of the relationship, but I have seen little glimpses of it here and there and the possibility certainly exists).   Steve/Tony was actually my first marvel ship …  but I had started out quite a while back on the comics, so I saw what they could be far before MCU showed their version.  I definitely support shipping Tony with almost anyone, especially J.A.R.V.I.S., Thor, and Bruce.  However, being how I am (I usually get stuck on one character when in a fandom and am not too interested in the other characters.  It makes my life a little easier that way, lol) I don’t concern myself with shipping Steve with anyone in particular nor do I have any opinions on that matter, though I can see the appeal of shipping him with Nat or Sam.  Never with Bucky, though.  My first exposure to Bucky was when his character was designed as Steve’s KID sidekick.  I honestly can’t picture them two as anything but brothers. Yeah damn. I understand why people ship it comic-verse... I just dont like (otp) ships where couples fight... Ive seen at least two or three massively violent fights between them... two at times where Tony sorta just gave up and let Steve do whatever.... and thats why the comics make me kinda iffy. If I read the comics I guess id be less put off? LOL OMG That crotch in the face... the comics are INSANE.

If MCU Steve and Tony had HALF of what comic Steve and Tony were id understand and probably ship it myself... but they just dont.... so anything involving MCU Steve and Tony just feels really fake.
