The cool morning air invaded the streets of Bridgeport. Lorena heard the noisy, urban silence, broken only by the low voices, as she walked to the bedroom door, drunk and sleepy. The next day, oh... she wouldn't remember that! In fact, the party was long over for the other guests. The glasses around the house, the empty bottles, the stereo had long been turned off. But in the living room, there was a small revolution in two lives brought together by chance (or not).
So many subjects, eye to eye, smiles and involuntary touches. As a magnet. They both felt the connection as well as everyone else that day. Nobody interrupted them, it was evident that they just needed each other.
“Even his voice was cozy”, Laura thought, discreetly noticing other curious features. Chris talked about philosophy, politics and history but also about family, work and TV series that weren’t up to date. In each of the subjects, they found something in common, a good sense of belonging. You’d say Laura and Chris were already friends without even knowing each other in this world. They just needed to meet.
But there was something else. While he talked about how the first years were living alone, she felt a huge urge to snuggle in his chest to better feel that perfume that came from time to time on her nose. Feeling his beard scratching her neck lightly. “Oh, no!” she said aloud, making Chris realize how distracted she was. The sun was almost rising. "It's late" he almost whispered looking disappointed. "Or early".
A strange silence settled, the first since they started talking that night. Laura didn't want to go home, she felt restless, anxious after noticing her feelings. He made that inner mess a little worse. "Come on, I'll take you home" he said going to Lorena's room to get another helmet.
As soon as she got on the bike, she felt despair, like panic. "Chris? Sunrise... on the beach.” ”Yeah...I got it"
He sighted, feeling her arms around him.
