honestly, the Pride and Prejudice connections are pretty half-baked. It’s more a writing choice that helps me put my ideas into words than a fully realized AU. (Plus Amelia’s got as much if not more Catherine Morland in her characterization than Elizabeth Bennet, but it’s been way too long since I last read Northanger Abbey for me to make anything coherent out of that.) Anyhow, here goes:

For our purposes, we’re going to roll Tarrick, Santaura, and the Garcia parents into the Mr. and Mrs. Bennet stand-ins

So it’s Regency England, and this husband and wife duo used to be an happy couple until all the social problems of the day weighed them down. She’s paranoid about securing good matches for their kids, and he’s just too exhausted with life to realize the stakes.

At the Netherfield Ball, golden child Izzy (the “Jane Bennet”) instantly hits it off with Fern (Bingley, natch). Mrs. Bennet is thrilled about a potential love-match with a rich and successful suitor, and Amelia rolls her eyes as rest of the Bennets make fools of themselves in their efforts to match-make

(given how often Fizzy focus eps are also “Javi does something dumb without realizing it” eps, he slides surprisingly well into the Mary/Kitty position. Though naturally, he can actually back up the musical skill Mary likes to think she has)

Also in Fern’s orbit is Ollie, who Amelia immediately butts heads with, seeing him as a pretentious crank (but she’s not completely wrong though). They keep running into each other at the social events, and no, he’s not at all impressed by her. Why do you ask?

Izzy and Fern get closer, until all of a sudden Fern vanishes to Oakdale. Already furious on Izzy’s behalf, Amelia only gets angrier when she learns Ollie had a hand in it, trying to protect Fern from this crazy family (he’s not wrong about the Bennets being insane, but Amelia’s not about to concede the point to the guy responsible for her sister’s heartbreak)

Then some lord shows up, and he reinforces everything Amelia already believes about Ollie being awful by telling them about their shared history.

So imagine her shock when out of absolutely nowhere, he makes the Bad Love Confession. She lets him have it, about his ego, his stubbornness, meddling with Izzy and Fern, and The Incident with the lord

Ollie is shocked that she knows about The Incident and retreats. He later delivers the Mr. Darcy Letter, explaining that while there’s more to The Incident than she’s been led to believe, she’s absolutely correct about his character flaws. He doesn’t want to upset her any further, but he’s going to do what he can to set things right.

to clear her head, Amelia visits Solon (filling the Aunt and Uncle Gardiner role as the token responsible adult). Ollie comes back into her life, and while things are awkward, they take up this second chance to get to know each other better, and they bond. But just as things are heating up, the lord swoops back into their lives and threatens the Bennet family

Amelia and Ollie have to work together, and they save the day by pairing the lord up with a bride worthy of him from Regency England Nibyro (sorry, no matter how hard I try I just can’t picture Rita Repulsa as Amelia’s bratty kid sister)

So Izzy and Fern are together again, Amelia and Ollie become a couple, and Santaura Bennet’s head does not explode. Fin.
