Hornet goes to a metal concert
Silly doodles vaguely related to that fic I was and still am writing lol
My most recent random hk semi-but-not-really-serious theory is that Kingdom’s Edge used to be luscious greenery, but since the Hive sealed themselves off during the infection, thus denying any pollination, everything died out, leaving only dried up white roots left.
Evidence?:
- White roots everywhere. Checkmate athiests.
- It would be cool.
- Look bee hives have gotta sustain themselves somehow they gotta get pollen from somewhere. Both bumble bees and honey bees need pollen in some form.
- Kingdom’s Edge has a lot of acid present in high volumes, which we usually see near other areas with high density of foliage (Greenpath, Fungal Wastes, Fog Canyon, Isma’s Grove).
- Kingdom’s Edge borders both the City of Tears and its Sewers on its West side, meaning it would have adequate water to support at least some plantation. Bonus points with the fact Isma’s Grove is nearby as well.
- The dead bodies from the Colosseum would decompose for fertiliser.
- It also makes sense to me that the decomposing body of a God would encourage some life to grow around it in some sense. Like think of the godly nutrients yum yum
Been messing with Hornet sprites lol

Went back to play some Hollow Knight and got hit with like a cold shock the reason that the second game has felt equal in size to me, despite its map being so much larger, is that Silksong’s combat + exploration is far more fast paced than Hollow Knight’s. Redid False Knight’s dream boss and it just felt like a normal Silksong boss. The Knight may seem to be sturdier than Hornet but Hornet zooms like a madlass. Feels representative of them as characters as well. The knight appears to be patient and methodical, seemingly without any goals and wanders to their hearts content. Hornet is swift and precise, assigning herself missions and constantly moving forward with a goal in mind.
Also extends to movement. The knight feels floaty with their jumps and has extremely controlled arial, like momentum and gravity don’t exist for them. Hornet’s controls are all influenced by momentum and her own weight, still controlled but not quite working against physics like the knight, instead working with them. The knight also gets pushed back a lot more when striking and taking damage— they just feel light as a feather in general tbh.
Could simply be a matter of Team Cherry having the time to perfect Silksong’s movement tech with its development time. I still think the comparison is neat.
practise doodles of the geometric they
messily doodled this about 2 months ago when the Hornet sprite sheet dropped, and I don't think I'll ever finish it properly lol. Have some Girlrotting + thirsty Lace
