Nuclear time
I just read Nuclear time by Oli Smith.
It. Was. Awful.
I mean, the story was waaay too complicated for nothing and the way Rory was written had me gritting my teeth. Or Amy calling him "babe". Or this scene:
She turned her face to look at him, their noses brushing. "Are you going to carry me the rest of the way then, lover-boy?"
Rory plonked her on the turf. "Not likely".
I just can't imagine Rory dropping her on the ground like that. He's such a macho in this story, being all badass, breaking windows bare hands and being mean to the Doctor. It was like a bad mix of mickey and early "vampire of venice" Rory, still jealous and everything.
I know Rory isn't weak or anything, but he really sounded out of character in this story, in comparison to The glamour chase or The king's Dragon. The characters relationship was more like Rose/Mickey than what I'm used for Amy/Rory. At least, Amy was a little better written than Rory and the Doctor was okay I guess. Still, wouldn't recommend this book, I was quite disappointed.
