my roman empire is how Tomura and Touya were both so consumed by hatred for themselves, their family, and what they could have been; and in the end, they both ended up finding some semblance of peace and accountability for their horrible actions, which allowed them to move on from their total hatred.
Touya’s act of “accountability” was him realizing how similar him and Shouto were when he found out him and his brother shared something so simple yet profound as a favorite food, when Touya was so desperate to divide Shouto from him as “Endeavor’s masterpiece” and it shattered him when he finally saw Shouto as a human, a CHILD, rather than just his replacement. And then APOLOGIZED. For someone who was hellbent on killing and destroying his entire family with no remorse and pure selfishness, Touya sincerely apologizing was his version of accountability, even if it wasn’t prison like Spinner and Compress, or immediate death like Himiko.
Tomura’s act of accountability (in a way) was his final speech to Izuku, and urging him to do his best. Rather than wishing him death or destruction, he helped defeat All for One alongside Izuku and let his vestige die out, content with getting his body back, even if he couldn’t destroy Izuku’s arms. His final act of accountability was death, even when his sole mission was to destroy everything.
They fuck me up so bad. They’re literally two sides of the same coin 💔
