This 4,000 years old bristlecone tree has seen over a million sunrises and sunsets. The worlds oldest bristlecone pine has lived in this forest for 5,071 years. Unfortunately, to protect the oldest trees from vandalism, their locations are kept secret.

Sometimes it is nice to get away from the hectic traffic of Tehran and look for a change of scenery. And escaping the Tehran heat is always nice at this time of year. Temperatures have been quite high and we live mostly with air conditioning. So I thought this would be the perfect occasion to visit Baraghan village that is only 80 km away. We left in the morning, hoping to avoid big crowds.

She, the Simal tree, is the oldest we know at LBG. Her red blossoms every year help soothe mind and peace! Flowers also attract large varieties of birds for feeding. This month we are hosting 600+ Asian Pied Starlings' winter roost in our garden--one of the largest recorded in Nepal.
