I don't understand the point of defining one's interests and then boxing yourself within them. Why does the fact I like a certain book have to be common knowledge so that I can be 'known'? Is it not possible to be interesting without my collective hobbies and interests being a public display of 'me'... a statement of 'self' without actually having anything to do with who I actually am. We all latch onto things that we identify with and selotape them to our egos... so that we can avoid the truth that personality is just a façade and ultimately we are all just what we are. And the brilliance is that 'what we are' is something completely and utterly indescribable... indefinable. Why are we so ashamed of that? Why do we label it as dull and uninteresting... and put up our little personality forts? I struggle with this, at times I find myself wanting to prove my 'interesting-ness' to the world... to list all the fascinating things I hold a penchant for. We humans are strange :).
