It's a little early for New Year wishes, but can 2026 be the year of returning to sharing text posts on the internet as text instead of screenshots of text posts as video over some Minecraft hopping background or whatever?

what I remember about the time before the 24 hour news cycle
was that, yes, of course, horrible things were still happening all the time
but
without the need to fill the constant airtime of 24 hours a day, 7 day a week news
there was a whole lot less speculation.
people didn't go in front of the camera to talk about what could be happening for hours and hours between bursts of getting/reporting actual, solid news
and while I do understand this could be a big misremembering
I do know that I have little tolerance for the 24 hour news cycle's habit of filling the time with ~maybe~, especially the kind of ~maybe~ that caters to existing political opinions of the expected viewers and advertiser expectations
It’s not even March yet and I can already feel it
The need to not give in to people’s fucks So many people are going to think I’m a nasty bitch when I hit 30 for not playing along, like sorry honey, but I wasted my youth trying to please other people to the point of breakdown, I’m not playing anymore. In my next decade I will put myself first (and @chocolingthroughboldestpixelands because he’s the only one that has shown full support and I love him)
London pride
My friend and his boyfriend (and all his twink mates) are late so now I'm standing on Regent St on my own with a bag of warm gin surrounded by excitable teenagers. Happy pride, everyone.
Sorry, rant incoming
I usually put a lot of effort to be positive and spread positivity around instead of hate or criticism. But I recently saw a video that just left me with a bad aftertaste and I need to know if I'm cooked or if anyone here agrees with me.
I know nothing about the person that's in this video, and I don't mean this as an attack on him in any way.
So, I like to watch the wired "xx support" YouTube videos when they're about something in interest in. This is the one that rubbed me the wrong way:
Is it just me or are most of his takes..... bad? Outdated and/or incredibly vague and not actionable. Like, "listen to your players" and "have fun" are genuinely good directions, but do nothing on their own. What does listening to the players mean? Incorporate their ideas, suggestions and wishes into the story. Decide on a tone that everyone likes and stick to it.
Or, for the first session, I would advise a new GM to clearly set expectations: "It's my first time at this, I will make mistakes, please be patient and supportive"
Probably the best advice he gives is about how to avoid a tpk: "Make it clear to the players that the fight is hard and they can be killed if luck turns against them and they don't run." but then again, this also grinds my gears because it's working around a problem that shouldn't be there in the first place: if we're playing a story-focused campaign, tpk should just not be possible, unless it's a good story moment, and 0layers should decide that, not the dice. And if we're playing a challenge-focused campaign then every fight should potentially be deadly. But a tpk also shouldn't be an unexpected disappointment, but rather part of the possible outcomes.
Maybe im just old and grumpy and tired of hearing the same shit discussion over and over again, but I feel a lot of what he says is wishy-washy and not useful, and better games than dnd solved those issues decades ago.
Sorry for the messy rant, but I had to get this out

It's EARLY November. People have decorated for Christmas already. I wanna punch everyone of those people in the face. CHRISTMAS is NOT in November. STOP IT !!!!!!!!
Ok. Maybe I'm just old. But when I click on a tag (gale x tav, gale x reader, gale x durge), I expect to see *exactly that*.
Why in the everloving *fuck* is there so much astarion x tav in those tags?
If Astarion must be involved with Tav and Gale, regardless of the combo, just put it under fucking bloodweave x tav.
OR
Keep it specifically astarion x tav or gale x tav if the other origin character is minor to the ship or something.
Edit: if it's a headcanon post with multiple ships, this doesn't apply.
Also, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT EXISTS
