Thandiwe (Credited as Thandie) Newton (Olanna) andĀ Anika Noni Rose (Kainene) in Half of a Yellow Sun (2013).
Yes, some things never change Like the feel of your hand in mine Some things stay the same Like how we get along just fine
Like an old stone wall that'll never fall Some things are always true Some things never change Like how I'm holding on tight to you

āThanks. Iām sorry to dump all of this on you. But it sounds like youāve got it all figured out, huh?ā
āI dunno, I think Iām just one semester ahead of you,ā Olaf half joked with a self-conscious chuckle. āThough I guess thatās one thing I learned. Everything feels different with time. Sometimes for the bestā often times for the best. Like friendships.ā His smile spread. āThe longer you know someone, the more you understand them. And that helps when it comes to homesickness and that kind of thingā having people around, you know, who you love and would miss if you went back home.āĀ
āYeah, thatās true,ā she said, thinking about all of the people she had met at Pride U already.Ā āIāve met some really cool people here, and people always say that you meet the best people in uni, so Iām, like, excited for that.ā Just thinking about that made things look different already. Anna spread some jam on a piece of bread and took a bite. āOhmygod, this is so good! You said⦠Sindri made this? Can I, like, put in an order?āĀ

JumÄtate de soare galben de Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - Recenzie literarÄ
when I read half of a yellow sun the image in my head of Olanna was of Lupita Nyong'o too!
Oh my gosh, anon! You totally get it!!! I actually didn't have much of a "face" for Olanna until a long while after I saw Lupita; one day I was randomly like, "Whoa! She... she'd make the perfect Olanna!"
After all, Olanna is described as being "illogically beautiful" and whilst Thandie Newtonāthe actress who played her character in the movieāis a beautiful woman, she is very much within the realms of logic. Whereas for Lupita, people have been writing essays on what confuses them about finding a woman like her (coughdarkskinnedcough) beautiful since her debut, and if that doesn't scream "Olanna" I don't know what does!!!
What happened to #Kainene, will #Chiamaka ever know how she came to be? What of #Richard and is fate posts the war? Will things ever return back to normal between #Odenigbo and #Olanna now that they are back in Nsukka? Will laughter ever return to their home again? What will #Ugwu do now? Will his memoirs ever get published? Are they part of this book? So many questions..... But then again I'll just read on #Recycling
