Some monuments and graves from the Okunoin cemetery, Koyasan, Wakayama, Japan. Sacred to the Shingon faith, Okunoin is almost 1200-years-old, and it is the final resting place of Kobo Daishi Kukai, who brought Vajrayana religion to Japan. It is said that he remains in eternal meditation, inside his mausoleum. This is a deeply sacred place, and I am very grateful to have spent a few days wandering its hallowed grounds.
