Dancing for the flowers 🌺 at Shuri Castle, Okinawa ___ Before the American occupation, before their annexation by Japan, and even before their tributary relationships with China, the Okinawa Islands were their own kingdom with a unique culture: the Ryūkyū Kingdom. One example is Zo-odori, a type of Ryukyuan dance that appeared in the late 19th century and focuses on common people. This particular dance is called "Nuchibana" and follows a young girl picking flowers in the spring. ___ Check out this dance and more at Shuri Castle in Naha-shi. Free performances are held 3x a day on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays. #okinawastyle #JETlife #letsgetcultural (à Okinawa|沖縄)
