Its Okay not to be OKAY and still talk about it ❤️ Read Below 👇 ______________________ As a woman in Social Media, I too have given away the idea or an image of being perfectly happy in my own shoes, having a great life etc. While it may be true to an extent, sometimes we are all fighting our own battles, facing our own monsters that NOONE likes to talk about. I've partnered with #okaymovement @okaymovement to raise awareness! _________________ As a Muslim South Asian woman, I grew up believing that talkin about my Mental Health is looked down upon. Because of the stigma that has been created around mental health in the #desicommunity, I too have been a victim of such belief. The idea of "feeling sad and depressed after having a baby or a traumatic experience was shameful."What will "People say when they hear that I have suffered through PPD". "How would so and so react if I spoke about my severe anxiety and panick when I drove on the road." ___________ "WHAT if they laugh and don't respect me enough when I tell them I have a sensitivity to bright lights and loud noises and it can trigger my anxiety and cause me to shut down." "I have OCD to a point I get a nervous breakdown" 🌺Are these even considered a "REAL PROBLEM"? So I silently bottled my emotions and feelings and let the sufferings be a part of me.🌺 However, I am a different person today and I no longer validate myself with that type of belief. I learned that in order to be a better version or to feel better we MUST SPEAK TO SOMEONE, seek attention for the way we feel and take care of it in any POSITIVE way possible. We must give it the same importance as we would give a Back injury or a fever, a sprain or any physical disease! So here is my two cents. Take care of your #mentalhealth and rise above all the stigma around it. 🌹🌹 PLEASE SEEK HELP. SPEAK TO A DOCTOR ABOUT YOUR CONDITION. TALK TO A FRIEND, OR SOMEONE YOU TRULY TRUST. But do not Suffer in #silence 🌹🌹 ___________________ I challenge 3 of these wonderful ladies to Participate in this movement with me. ♥️♥️ @fahmidaaziz @mylifes.canvas @embracecoachingforwomen . . As part of the @okaymovement by @peersway I’m sharing my journey with mental wellness. For a long time, I never thought I was enough. I listened to my depression and believed I needed leadership, or a mentor to be my hero and to gain their approval. This led me to think that I needed someone else or something else to be happy. One day I decided to stop waiting to hear praise, and decided to be own hero. Every single day I said the things I wanted others to say. “You’re so pretty! You are so skilled and knowledgable!” Until I finally believed it. I still struggle from time to time with my depression, but now I only surround myself with others who are their own heros who don’t flex their influence, but want to be on the same super hero team. After all, Real Queens fix each other’s crowns. 👸🏻 Join the #OkayChallenge #TalkToday #okaymovement share your story! #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessweek #mentalhealthawarenessday #arealqueen (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3bIhgUB4ye/?igshid=1rz0vz05dh4l0
