One day you’ll regret not listening to how I felt.

You’ve always liked towering over me, making me feel small and unimportant.

I wonder if you’ll like it when you’re standing above my final resting place.

Will you still feel superior? Or will you finally regret your words and your refusal to listen?

I know you’ll make up excuses. How you weren’t that bad. How I always exaggerated.

And what of death. Is there some semblance of an afterlife that lets us continue on making the same mistakes, making the same decisions that had us ending up in the damned inferno along with the rest of the godly sinners burning for eternity thinking we’re better than this, that we deserve more. Or is it nothing that greets us. To continue on until our brains give out and we’re just gone.

I see the comfort of religion, thinking we will somehow continue on after everything, that we matter in some way beyond this world, this plane of existence. But I also see the hate and hurt that those who name sinners can cause and do not wish to continue that cycle.

If I were the ghost would you choose to be friendly? 

                                                         Maybe one day I'll wake up and be living

If I break the parts like the puzzle pieces from the end to the start If I break the parts would you rebuild them?

                                                          There's times when I lose the image

If I severed the ropes like the ones holding boats from over the edge of this ship If I severed the ropes which way would you jump?

                                                          Sometimes I run from myself instead

If I asked a question like the few I've asked before many metaphors for it all If I asked the question would you answer it?

                                                         And now, the answer could be too much
