🧵 Week 1 – Laying the Groundwork for FashionTech
📆 Covered Dates: June 17 (Tuesday) – June 20 (Friday)
🕒 Total Hours This Week: 36.82 hours (excluding lunch breaks)
This week began with onboarding, where I was assigned to the FashionTech project. Our goal is to help digitize the workflows of local fashion retailers in Taytay. I reviewed the empathy interview materials and created user profiles based on actual small business stories. My teammate worked on the empathy map, and I also tried to reach out to contacts for more user interviews. After gathering our insights, I completed the Product Strategy Deck and moved into low- and mid-fidelity prototyping using Figma. By Friday, I had finalized our mid-fi prototype in preparation for feedback and development.
2. Problems Encountered and How I Solved Them
The biggest challenge was finding additional interviewees under a tight timeline. Despite using my network, scheduling didn’t work out. To keep moving forward, we relied on the original interview data provided and focused on building out the design side with what we had. It was a reminder to adapt and prioritize progress even without perfect inputs.
3. Reflection on What I Learned
This week taught me the value of empathy in design and how important it is to ground decisions in real user experiences. I also learned how useful a product strategy deck can be; it helped narrow our direction and prevent scope creep. Lastly, I experienced firsthand how quick iterations in Figma can transform raw insights into usable interfaces.
